It is a question I've often pondered. Once you put your face and name out there, should your entire life become public domain?

I think this thread might draw more attention in CI.

As for my opinion on this:

quote:

absolutely not! The public has no business in anybodies lives but their own. Just because somebody is well known does not give anybody else the right to intrude in his or her personal life.

i totally agree with LadyCaitriona, just because a person is famous...things they do in their private life should be allowed to remain that way...

if something is done in public and they get caught, depending on what it is, then that's different...like if someone is making a fool of themselves some place, that's one thing...but these photo hounds, that camp outside homes and stuff..i think that's totally wrong..what a person does behind their own walls deserve some sort of 'normalcy'... i know i wouldn't like someone pestering me everytime i turned around..

then again, i'm not rich and famous...

I think that people need to start respecting the privacy of the famous.

Some of the things they do are extremely disrespectful, such as driving a bunch of tourist up to their homes to gain a buck, trying to take pictures of their children even when asked not to, getting into their faces trying to get a story when obviously they don't want to be bothered, hanging out in bushes around their homes to catch some “revealing” snapshots, getting in their faces when they say that they don’t have the time to sign autographs. I don’t think I’d be able to put up with it.

These people are human; they ought to be respected as such.

First of all, I have to say that I agree with the above. Privacy should be respected. Whether you are John Doe from Timbuktu or Julia Roberts.

Second, I think I might move this down to the CI Forum as was suggested by a previous poster (I forget who it was at the moment!). I don't know that it's conversial, exactly, but there may be some who do feel that public figures should be public all the time. If someone feels that way, it might be useful to have the thread in that forum in order to get some discussion on it.
