So what was your favourite kids show from when you were a wee 'un? Sorry if this has been done a million times before! My favourites include: Fraggle Rock Wacaday Dangermouse Button Moon Pigeon Street Fun House Going Live! Rainbow Count Duckula Willow the Wisp The Wombles Knightmare To name but a few. Also I what about those kid shows that made you jump for the remote? The ones you detested! For me it would be Why Don't You? BBC summer holiday pap. Presented by kids striaght outta drama school, show us 'intersting' things such as paper folding or whatever. Others include Care Bears - Something about fluffy bears my sister used to watch. Also Jackanory. Another BBC offering in which actors just sat and told stories *yawn*.

Oh my, there was no such thing as remotes when I was little. Same thing with cable and colour! However, if you ask any Canadian of my generation they will all say: The Friendly Giant (I liked the little chairs at the beginning the most) Chez Helen Mr. Dressup

I was a kid in the 80s. I loved Sesame Street Mr. Rogers (c'mon! How could you not like the puppets?) Reading Rainbow (great show, LeVar Burton rocks) Square One (Mathnet!) Thundercats Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ghostbusters (both the movies and the cartoon) but the best one was of course She-Ra, Princess of Power. She was so cool. Never could understand Care Bears or the show with Jem (anyone else remember this?) Or G.I. Joe though I did get a kick out of playing with their action figures with my brother. Couldn't stand Barbie either, though I don't think she was a TV show.

Ok! Gang, I seem to go back a little farther than most. How about Ding Dong School with Miss Frances, Hoody Doody, and some show that I can’t remember the name of, which had children putting a protective plastic coating over the TV screen and then drawing along with the show using special crayons. The drawing show was fun; does anyone remember what it was called? All these shows go back to the very early fifties.

Oh........Vikan....what fine memories! AND Shari Lewis, who came on right before Kukla, F & A! Maggie Muggins...I think I might have mentioned these before! Does it have to be cartoons? I hope not, cause when I was a bit older, I liked My Friend Flicka, Sky King, and Rin Tin Tin!

I too loved Sky King and Lamb Chop. The Spin and Marty series on the Mickey Mouse Club was another favorite when I was a preteen. My father bought our first TV in 1948(I can't remember if it had an eight or ten inch screen), when I was about two and a half years old. I remember in the early days lots of test patterns, cooking shows, wrestling and live programming out of New York City.

Well, some of these were mentioned above, but growing up in the 80's (and early 80's for my younger years, so I've got some throwbacks from the 70's, too) my favorite shows were:
Sesame Street Mr. Wizard Fraggle Rock The Electric Company Pinwheel Reading Rainbow Square One
All of those but Pinwheel and Mr. Wizard were PBS shows, and those two were early Nickelodeon shows. I did like some cartoons, too, but that was a little later. My favorite cartoon was probably GI Joe, followed closely by Thundercats and He-Man. Then there were the older Hannah Barbara cartoons like Thundar the Barbarian, The Herculoids and Space Ghost. Er, yeah, I was a tomboy.

There were so many I loved as a kid... - Dangermouse
- Fragglerock
- Carebears (I liked them too)
- Superted
- Knightmare
- Funhouse.. I always wanted to be on that programme!
- Grange Hill
- Byker Grove
- The Poddington Peas
- Astro Farm
- Scooby Doo (the new ones are nowhere near as good though)
- Penny Crayon
- Inspector Gadget
- Henry's Cat
- Button Moon
And probably even more that I can't think of right now. My brother's seven years younger than me and I hated the TV shows he watched... Wizadora and Tots TV annoyed me so much!

*sigh* Dangermouse. One of the best cartoons of all time.
He's the Ace. He's amazing. He's the strongest, he's the quickest, he's the best!
