(The other thread on this was so ancient that I thought I'd start a fresh one on the movie.)

I FINALLY saw this this past weekend.

Ok, quick confession here, Kevin Spacey is SUCH a cutie! What a performance. And, when that man cried, I was crying with him.

I really liked this movie. I thought it was wonderfully acted and a great treat to watch.

I think the concept is beautiful, too. Paying it forward to another human is a terrific concept - one that I think would be excellent to start. It would require faith in your fellow humans, yes. But, I think that's kind of the point, in a way. You do not have to be concerned about their passing it along. All you have to do is make sure that YOU pass it along. Their carrying it forward from there is not your worry. Just carry it forward yourself and then have faith - because that's really what faith is to begin with.

I read an interview with the author of the book. She said that she was really caught up in a "pay it forward" situation herself. Her old car was on fire. Two men stopped, ran over, and put the fire out - not even thinking about their own safety. When she turned around, they were gone. She never could thank them. A few years later, she stopped to help a lady with a car problem. A simple enough thing. However, it turns out that this lady really needed someone to show her a kindness. When asked how she could repay the author, the author said, "Don't. Pay it forward." The lady immediately understood. I think it's beautiful that the concept for the book and the movie started with an actual occurrance of what the whole thing is about.

There may be some people (like me!) who didn't get to see this one in the theaters. So, I don't want to give any spoilers as to the ending. But, know that I consider this one to be a winner. And, highly recommended. (Just for looking at Spacey, if nothing else! )

Good concept.
Bad movie.

OK, OK, not bad maybe, but could have been so much more. Especially w/all that talent (Spacey, yes I love him too.), Hunt, and Haley Joel.
Did enjoy Hunt's portrayal of the alcoholic. She must of done research. (Speaking from experience).
