Everyone has a list of bands they wish they had seen live. Which bands do you wish you had gotten to see live?

Mine are

The Grateful Dead-I passed on the chance the year before Jerry died.
The Ramones- I wasn't allowed to see them growing up and I missed their final Pittsburgh show due to weather.
Toad the Wet Sprocket-Maybe they'll tour again, they have a habit of coming out of retirement.
The Replacements-The chances of the original members coming together to do a tour any time soon are about as high as the chances of Paul McCartney and Heather Mills shaking hands.
The Jesus and Mary Chain-The brothers have collaborated with their sister on a new project, but I don't think JMC are reforming any time soon.

I know I've forgotten a few. Share yours.

Firstly I would love to see U2 in concert after that Green Day but really they're the only ones.

When I was a teenager I so desperatly wanted to see Howard Jones (LOL) and had the chance but I got in trouble for something or other and wasn't allowed to go. Oh woe was me.

Drat to remember . Bowie was playing a venue in Cleveland (just an hour or so away) in the, I think, late 70s - I wanted to go more than badly since I was so into him and his music that it was downright frightening. Unfortunately, some 'brass' from the restaurant I worked in were expected that night and it was insisted that I run the shift (the down side of being "Mr. Trustworthy" ). I tried for two solid weeks to be a rotten, lazy, inefficient slug ~ hoping they would decide that there had to be someone better to entertain the bosses. Alas, they were onto me. I missed Bowie, that Vice President was not even partly pleasant, I was depressed for weeks. Never got the chance to see 'Ziggy Stardust' again, either...

Ouch, Gats. I would have loved to have seen Mr. Stardust in his heyday.

I would have loved to have seen The Beatles, although all that screaming might have ruined it for me. I also would have liked to see Queen live.

Is this for bands that can't possibly reunite, can reunite or are still togather?

Can't possibly reunite: The Beatles, Maddox Brothers & Rose and some jazz bands whose members are no longer with us.

I'll have to think on the others.

You're dead right. I actually did see the Beatles live, 'see' being the operative word as you couldn't hear anything of the music due to the continuous hysterical screaming!
I'd have loved to see Queen, especially performing Bohemian Rhapsody, but I'd have wanted to hear it too. I'd quite like to have seen the Shadows, The Who, and Pink Floyd in their heyday. There are numerous Country & Western artists I'd loved to have seen, but probably my favourite would be the late great Johnny Cash.
This evening we're going to see the Chris Barber jazz band live. Chris is in his 70s now, but still performs full time, and live jazz bands are always great to watch.

My two cousins saw the Beatles when they [ the cousins ] still lived in England during the early '60's - I have never recovered from the unfairness of things, either.

I have seen Johnny Cash during my lifetime, but not in performance. Both times he was making an appearance for charity.

Any and all of the above, Rogue. I have to admit, I was eagerly awaiting your input.

I'd have loved to have seen Johnny Cash perform. Actually, I'd have loved to have taken my fiancee to see Johnny Cash perform. Funny that, he's English and he loves Johnny Cash, I'm American and I'm bummed because I never saw The Clash live. Go figure.

To make two of you jealous. I've seen Pink Floyd and U2, although I'm sad to say I didn't catch The Clash. Indie, do you know a band called Magazine? Howard DeVoto (Buzzcocks) was the singer. I saw them supporting XTC.

Add to the list of can't-possibly-reunite bands (with original or best-known lineup): Big Star, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Led Zeppelin, the Temptations

Of bands that, as far I know, can still reunite: like to have seen Uncle Tupelo, Man Or Astroman, the Raspberries, Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks, Pink Floyd

Why is it every time Rogue posts I kick myself for not thinking of someone on his list? Big Star, now there's a band I would have loved to have seen live.

I really wish I'd gotten to see Quicksilver at some point, too - before the death of John Cipollina. An amazing guitar player - even with only most of his fingers in tact.

I wish I could have seen Neutral Milk Hotel play before Jeff Mangum suffered his anxiety attacks. Such beautiful music, and I find their live music to be better than the more polished studio versions of their songs.

The Eagles for sure. I'm not sure why I love them so much but I do.

Also, I'm going to see Tragically Hip in September and I can't wait. SOOOO good live

Oh, my. What is not to love about The Eagles? A fine mention, garyfire. I would have sold my corneas (back when they worked right ) to have had a seat at an Eagles concert *sighs*...

I saw them when I was in high school oh so many years ago. I still have that ticket stub around somewhere, I think.

I love Nirvana and I deeply regret never seeing them in concert. Now Kurt is dead, so my chance is gone. It's truly sad.

I know! They're amazing. My brother got the chance to go see them a couple years back for their farewell tour and he passed it up. I'll never let him live it down. He said it was because he didn't like them at the time, but I don't believe it. He just doesn't want to admit that he was an idiot for not going to see them.

Most of the other bands that I love are still around, Pink Floyd's members are still alive, but I don't think I'll get to see them.

For me it would be

The Doors
AC/DC featuring Bon Scott
Nirvana
The Beatles

I did see Queen - one of the best gigs ever!!! I've also seen U2 a few times and they are well worth it.
