I can understand that Bono is such a consumate performer.

I think there are a few performer who have an inate stage presence. Something that can't clearly be defined and definitely not taught. Michael Hutchence was another who has this.

Never saw Metallica (pre-Black album days) in concert. Kind of bummed at that.

Although most of the bands I go to see are rock bands, I would have dearly loved to have seen John Denver live.
People I might still get the chance if they ever come to the UK again are Joan Baez and Neil Diamond - ND has been a couple of times in the last few years but his ticket prices are twice anyone elses so I've never been able to afford to go :-(
I have seen Pink Floyd, and Green Day, and AC/DC (although not with Bon Scott.)

I had tickets to see Crowded House's "Farewell to the World" final concert at the Sydney Opera House.

That was until they moved the concert to the next night - I had finished day shift the day the concert was originally scheduled and rostered to start nights the next night. When the concert was moved to the next evening, I was pretty well screwed.

*sigh*

I hear that they are getting back together, but it won't be the same without Paul.

RIP PAUL HESTER

Everyone has a list of bands they wish they had seen live. Which bands do you wish you had gotten to see live?

Mine are

The Grateful Dead-I passed on the chance the year before Jerry died.
The Ramones- I wasn't allowed to see them growing up and I missed their final Pittsburgh show due to weather.
Toad the Wet Sprocket-Maybe they'll tour again, they have a habit of coming out of retirement.
The Replacements-The chances of the original members coming together to do a tour any time soon are about as high as the chances of Paul McCartney and Heather Mills shaking hands.
The Jesus and Mary Chain-The brothers have collaborated with their sister on a new project, but I don't think JMC are reforming any time soon.

I know I've forgotten a few. Share yours.

Ha! I've seen all of these except JAMC, and I heard that they really sucked live and would play with their backs to the audience. So you didn't miss much! Ramones were very good live - saw them twice: 1983 and 1985.

I always wish I had seen the classic rock bands of the 1960s: Beatles, Rolling Stones when Brian Jones was still in the band, Doors, Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane.

Also wish I'd seen Led Zeppelin live. And Nirvana. And Elvis Presley.

I actually had a chance to see Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins in 1989, but my boyfriend at the time would not go with me. I wish I had gone by myself, because both of them died soon after that.

And somehow, with all the concerts I've attended from 1980 to the present, I have never managed to see Madonna, Prince or Springsteen, and would love to see them.

Every time I am supposed to see Springsteen, something happens. The first time (1981 or 82?) my friend got arrested on the day of the show and got grounded. Goodbye tickets! The second time (1983?) my friend (different one) locked the tickets in his house and locked himself out of the house. My other friend and I (the first one, with the arrest record!) went to see BB King instead. The third time I was supposed to go with my boss (2004) but he ended up going with another friend who had good seats. Now he is playing in Houston in April, but all the good seats are sold out! Oh well...

Hmm..through time I would love to hear Mozart play and Beethoven. Then Paganini. From there a leap forward to Dizzy Gillepsie and Louis Armstrong. Step again and Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Mathis and then Allen Sherman. Last would be seeing the Highwaymen together.

The Doors would have been interesting to see, Led Zeppelin in their prime definately.
I got the opportunity to see Roger Waters from Pink Floyd perform Dark Side of the Moon last year, not the same as the full Pink Floyd experience I would imagine but it was a great night nonetheless.
Also saw Crowded House last year which was brilliant.
Being 22 and loving classic rock music, there are many bands I would love to see, however most are sadly beyond their prime.
