Haven't been to see many movies recently since I was completely disheartened by "The Brotherhood of the Wolf". God, what an abysmal movie. Spare your change people, it isn't even worth a rental!
Would highly recommend "Monsoon Wedding" though, and I'm still a big fan of "Amelie". "Under the Sand" was also good (notice I didn't go past good though). Also enjoyed "Songs from the Second Floor" and, yes, even "Iris" (even though, generally, I can't ordinarily stand Kate Winslet).
Stay away from "Mean Machine", however, an updated English version of "The Longest Yard" and sadly, Burt does a far better job than any of the cast of "Mean". Vinny Jones as an incarcerated soccer player.....hmmmmm. His charges and conviction don't match the crowd he is thrown in with. Guy Ritchie's hand is heavily obvious and frankly, his work is becoming mundane and repetitive. Try a new angle Guy, you could still pull it off, perhaps some new cast?
I thought "Dragonfly" might have been the best that Hollywood had to offer at the moment (and personally, it sucked....even "Mothman" was better), but actually "Monster's Ball" was far better.
Here endeth the recent movie watching.
