I just saw 'The Count of Monte Cristo'
and '40 Days and 40 Nights'
over this last weekend.

the Count was a very lavish production.
fun to watch...but light action/adventure.
some romance. the usual Italian hotties

40 Days was hilarious...one very funny movie
I haven't laughed that hard in a while.
again...lightweight comedy with a romantic twist.
does that make it a romantic comedy? God Forbid!

Mr. Manly says we don't watch chick flicks

anyway, Shannon Sossamyn is really cool.
I like her...I think she is hot...hmm...sound like a teenager.
very uniquely pretty girl.

Haven't been to see many movies recently since I was completely disheartened by "The Brotherhood of the Wolf". God, what an abysmal movie. Spare your change people, it isn't even worth a rental!

Would highly recommend "Monsoon Wedding" though, and I'm still a big fan of "Amelie". "Under the Sand" was also good (notice I didn't go past good though). Also enjoyed "Songs from the Second Floor" and, yes, even "Iris" (even though, generally, I can't ordinarily stand Kate Winslet).

Stay away from "Mean Machine", however, an updated English version of "The Longest Yard" and sadly, Burt does a far better job than any of the cast of "Mean". Vinny Jones as an incarcerated soccer player.....hmmmmm. His charges and conviction don't match the crowd he is thrown in with. Guy Ritchie's hand is heavily obvious and frankly, his work is becoming mundane and repetitive. Try a new angle Guy, you could still pull it off, perhaps some new cast?

I thought "Dragonfly" might have been the best that Hollywood had to offer at the moment (and personally, it sucked....even "Mothman" was better), but actually "Monster's Ball" was far better.

Here endeth the recent movie watching.
