Has anyone here watched this show with the adults having to answer all sorts of questions that a grade 2to 5th grade student would know the answers to.
Its actually amusing to watch the adults struggle to answer these questions at times. The adults can win up to a Million dollars if they get all the questions correct and so far I have only seen one guy go to 300,00.000.
I am finding it very entertaining.
Anyone else watch it?
And what do you think of the show?

Yes, PF, I have to admit that I watch (and really enjoy) the show. It's almost embarrassing for me to do that - honestly, I'd probably lose money on that program . Those kids are so fresh and bright...while that's entirely encouraging to see, it IS a bit daunting to notice how much smarter a child not even ten years old is than you happen to be (at least that's how it applies to me...I KNOW I learned all that stuff but, whoops, I forget 85% of it). Smart, energetic kids, though, and I like that. And, I have to say, adults who are extremely good sports when it comes to public humiliation .

I enjoy it and I am ashamed to say I can't answer some of those questions either.

Have you ever seen the Tonight Show when Jay Leno goes out and asks people on the street questions that most people should know like who is the Vice President of the United States or what do you celebrate on the 4th of July.

I am always in stitches on the floor laughing.

I have a feeling that's where they got the idea for this show from.

Next time I watch I will think of you watching it too and not feel so bad if I can't answer a question.

I've watched it too, although haven't watched eysterday's episode yet. The only two questions, so far, that I wouldn't have been able to get were the Ursa Major and the Femur questions...

I'm still trying to get over the woman who thought the US's longest land border was with Mexico!

Yep, seen it and love it. I can't believe those questions. You would think you would know them, and then you go "huh?". I guess that's the whole point, but still.

I really want to go on the show! I could be winning some major bucks just answering those questions! I maybe could have gotten farther that some of the contestants because they were using their cheats for what I thought were super easy questions. I love the show, never missed it yet. I also love Jeff Foxworthy as host!

Yes, but how to get on? My husband and I think you'd have to act like an idiot in order to be chosen!

I've watched glmipses of the show. Some of the questions I didn't remember learning in grade 5. Most of the questions are very minute, unimportant tidbits that you'd likely forget. That's what makes it challanging.

My husband suggested that you'd have to do POORLY on a test in order to get chosen for the show. I have to admit, I've been really entertained by it, but I have yet to see a single question to which I didn't know the answer. I would, however, note that I don't think any of them are "unimportant" tidbits. Obviously they're a part of school curriculum for a reason. OK, so maybe MOST adults don't need a lot of that stuff in their daily lives, but it isn't unimportant to know minutia of the world around you. That's why we're all members of a trivia site, right?

Well, I do enjoy learning new unrelated trivial stuff, but it doesn't mean it's important. I never will need to know what time period we are currently living in for my job. I'm sure the average person will not answer all the questions correctly. People will inevitablely forget some of the stuff from grade 5 years after graduating. Not all of it is related to logic, but some memory.

Yes, but a geologist or a scientist may need to know what time period we are livng in. Since we don't make a career choice until high school, in elementary school, they need to teach us a little about everything. It's when we choose our career that it may become "unimportant" or "more important".

I've only missed 6 questions so far.

There have been 3 or so questions that a few of my colleagues and myself believe we were never taught in gradeschool (such as Ursa Major, femur...).

Really? How interesting. I suppose it all depends on your location and what specific teachers choose to teach.

I've only missed a couple questions, but there have been some that I've had to think about really hard. Some things just don't stick unless I need to use the knowledge often. Like geometry formulas.

But these contestants really don't seem to be the sharpest knives in the drawer, do they? Even taking into account the nerves/stage fright factor. Some of those questions are just so easy that I would think they'd come to one automatically without even stopping to think.

Well, I enjoy the show anyway.

On a side note, has anyone seen that "Identity" show? Now that's one silly game. Hey, let's spend our night judging a book by its cover, folks!
And every time they've had a 'celebrity' on, I've spotted them the first time they show them. Don't these contestants ever watch tv?

The ursa major question... that was a question about the constellation of which the big dipper is a part, yes? I think I learned that in 4th grade. We had quite a large astronomy unit. So, I really think it must be a difference of regions or something.

North star, I believe.

We never learned constellations.

Good thing - I can't fathom why most are called what they are or why they picked what stars they did!

I've seen only one episode, and I can tell you, I sometimes doubt that these fifth graders aren't being fed answers. The smartest fifth graders in my town are not nearly as intelligent as the kids they place on this show.

I've only caught it a few times, and it seems to me that some of the questions are a little advanced. For example, the question was - How many e's in "Declaration of Independence"? That, of course, was easy for me, but it was classified as a FIRST GRADE question, and I seriously doubt that "independence" is on many first grade spelling lists.

Ditto. In 2nd grade, we were each allowed to choose a word for a special spelling test. I chose chocolate and that was even a hard one.

The first question I missed was the one about fiction books getting Dewey Decimal numbers. I said that fiction books don't get Dewey Decimal numbers, but then after they revealed the answer I realized my mistake.

Some of those obscure animal facts and physical science questions (like the troposphere one from March 29th's show) throw me for a loop, though.

I got troposphere, but a few others on that episode tripped me up - I think I'm up to having missed 8 questions total from the series.

I watched my first *full* episode Thursday night. The first one I saw was one my brother had DVR'd. All the questions I saw had a "cheat" used, then last Thursday, the gentleman who was playing got all the way to $500k and still had his "save" left.

I knew the million dollar answer, too!

I love this show and I think that some of the questions are hard even though I have been through 5th grade already!

PS- Also, how can you get that signature at the end of everything that you write?

"My Home" -> Main Configuration -> "Personal information, email, password, etc. ". There's a field for signature.
