I asked this question elsewhere, but (understandably) it was swamped by others posting their favourite teary songs.
I'm asking for opinions. It's probably best answered by people who actually know this song. The song is "Songbird" by Fleetwood Mac. I'll show the lyrics below. Now, I've always considered it a particularly sad song that does make me tear up. I won't say why. Somebody recently told me that they thought it was a beautiful love song. What's your opinion? I don't think the words are enough, I think you need to have heard it (but perhaps not):
"For you, there'll be no more crying,
For you, the sun will be shining,
And I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right
To you, I'll give the world
to you, I'll never be cold
'Cause I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right.
And the songbirds are singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before.
And I wish you all the love in the world,
But most of all, I wish it from myself.
And the songbirds keep singing,
Like they know the score,
And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before."
I should add that I've always believed that the third last line (at least) began with "But" rather than "Like"
