The old thread was rather long and unwieldy, so I started a new one. The old one is locked, but can be read still. I am reading 'The Hours' and cannot get into it at all. I will persevere, however.

"The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay". I am sorry, Zillah, I really intended to post about it. Anyway, I am trying to get time to give this a chance. I can feel it is going to be good. The language so far , I have found to be lovely. It looks very complex . I know I am going to love it. i just don't have time! I will get back to you about it.

Anyone read Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass? Well I just finish The Looking Glass Wars . Its basically a different side of Alice in Wonderland. I definitely recommend it.

Re-reading "England England" by Julian Barnes. I had to read it a few years ago for a class in college and seem to recall enjoying it, so I'm giving it another try...this time for fun and not for homework.

I'm not reading anything at the moment but one I read are "March" - about the dad of the Little Women which was good and quick. One of my favorites was "The Great Santini" and "Flags of Our Fathers" which both became movies that I didn't see.

Hi all, Could we think about adding a little more to our posts here? It seems to me, it is not enough to state the name of the book and its author. Maybe you could add a bit about how you are enjoying it, (or not) what it is about, how the style appeals etc. That would make this thread more than a list of books, and so more interesting. I am not meaning everyone here, as some of you do just that, and very well too.Thanks.

Just beginning to read the book "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay." I find it rather interesting, only 15 pages in, though it's quite easy to have a dictionary on hand as I frequently encounter words that challenge me.
I'm really trying to enjoy this book as Michael Chabon is a favorite author of mine, "Summerland" being one of my favorite books of all time. Well, happy reading all!

Thanks, Milky! I struggled with it and gave it up , temporarily. I think I will wait and see what you think of it when you have finished!

I'm currently reading "Hyperion" by Dan Simmons and I'm enjoying it immensely!
I discovered him when I picked up his other, newer work, "Ilium", and was enraptured by the storyline and the depth of his prose. Seeing that the Hyperion Cantos is one of his most famous works and, it being available at my local library, I grabbed the chance to read it.
Definitely a book I recommend for everyone who likes fantasy, science fiction, or just something intriguing to read.

I have not read a book in such a long time as I have been doing Sudoku puzzles instead, but I just read Jodi Picoult's "Perfect Match" and realy enjoyed every minute of it. Am planning to get some more of her books and keep reading!

Mid week last week I read Mossflower, but didn't have Redwall, so I reserved it at my favorite used bookstore, and while there I picked up a bunch of antique and/or older books at the free book box. So over the weekend I read Under the Lilacs by Louisa May Alcott, Cherry Ames: Student Nurse by... Helen... don't remember, and The Abortion: An Historical Romance 1966, by Richard Brautigan and have started on The Two Admirals by James F. Cooper. The free book boxes really expand my reading choices. Left to my own devices I'd be mostly sci-fi and fantasy, with the occasional old favorite classic, but just grabbing some nice-looking antique bindings or a title that catches my eye (totally choosing books by their covers, as I collect most any and all antique books) and I have really been enjoying reading the rather random selection of stories.
