Well. Yesterday was probably my worst day in years. Of course the one day I was able to get work, and my earnings won't begin to even be negligible. A pipe below our kitchen sink burst and ran for about 6 hours with no one noticing. Today we have about 7 huge fans and two dehumidifiers (enormous ones!) sitting in our house. And they have to run for 72 hours straight. For anything to be heard we have to yell at each other.

Then, I killed my keyboard. It just does not like skim milk! And here I thought I'd keep it skinny.... Ha!

Oh yes, we can't forget that less than a week ago a huge limb fell on our kitchen roof.

Then, the library called me to let me know a book was overdue. One that I had renewed on line. Ack! And it's just been one thing after another.

Something has to start going right sooner or later!

Thanks ClaraSue. Right now we're still listening to NOISE and tomorrow morning we have cabinetry people as well as flooring people coming out. Somehow I don't think this will all be back together within a week.... Today is a bit better though!

Jar, it is said that things (good or bad) come in threes and that for every bad thing a good one will happen. Now think about how many good things are to come your way, to balance the bad ones you just had.

Not sure if things are getting better, but the project is now getting bigger! (You can see by the time here - 1:13 a.m., I'm back to not sleeping!).

Right now half the kitchen floor is torn up, half the family room rug is also. The cabinet will need to have the insides rebuilt and in so doing they will have to take off the counter top. Which they say is a 90% probability that it will break when they try to do that. So, we are now looking at new flooring, new cabinet, all new cabinet re-stain, new counter and all of this so that things will match again! So what the heck, may as well get the rest of the carpeting replaced. This little broken hot water knob is now turning out to be much more expensive than what the plumber charged us in the beginning. We are up to the 'thousands' now! Yikes!

Tomorrow we are going to a wine tasting -- yippee!

Edited to add: I think I've found a solution for sleep -- Chain Games!!

Jar - I'm sorry to hear about your water damage. I'm all too familiar with how trying it can be.

Try to look on the bright side - at least you discovered the Chain Games. Now you know what the insomniacs were on about!

Enjoy the wine tasting - it may help you take your mind off your floor, cabinets, rug, etc.

Well, I have had some lows and highs the last few days! Sunday evening we were ready to walk out the door to go to church (which is right in front of our house) when my husband's cell phone rang. He answered it, was on for about 15 seconds, said "I've gotta go," got into my car, and took off. Turns out my daughter had been out on the highway on her way to our house - she was in the passing lane and some guy was right on her bumper so she slowed down and pulled into the right lane. He promptly pulled in behind her, still tailing her. She took the exit to come home, and he still followed, and every turn she made, he made. She kept slowing down so he would pass her, but he refused, and was swerving from side to side in both lanes, and making obscene gestures. Finally she got to our road, and he turned in behind her. Once again, she slowed to try to get him to pass, but when she touched her brake, he slammed into the rear end of her car. Her brakes were gone, but she finally got stopped. Then he got out and came up and was tapping on her window and windshield and yelling at her. She was terrified and quite hysterical, and that's when the call to her dad came. It took him about 30 seconds to get up to the top of our road. He jumped out of the car and yelled for the guy to back off from my daughter's car, which he didn't, until my husband put a little physical force into the request. At this point they both realized that the man was quite intoxicated, and other people had stopped, so the man went back and stood by his car. My daughter had called 911 right after she called her dad, and the fire trucks and ambulance soon came. It took about 25 minutes for the police to get there, but the man was carted off in handcuffs. When we got to the hospital, the policeman was there with the man getting a blood alchohol test. He was arrested shortly thereafter. It turned out that he actually lives on the same road that we do, thus the reason he kept following!
After being at the emergency room until 2AM, they determined my daughter had nothing broken, but she will need a good bit of rest and pain meds to take care of the concussion and severe whiplash. She is a server at a restaurant, so won't be able to carry the 30 pound trays for a while. She has her own place, but is with us for now. She isn't allowed to drive, and my guess is that they will total her car, since the damage is extensive and it is a (very) older model.
The high, as always, is that the worst didn't happen, and that she was close enough to home to be able to call for help. We are thankful!

Cinnam0n, that's so sad -- drunk drivers should have the privilege to spend years in jail. It is good that she was not hurt worse. Hopefully she will progress with getting well and can get back to work. My best to you and your family. May your daughter get well soon! The only down side is that when this idiot that calls himself a "man" goes on trial, your daughter may need to testify. Hopefully that won't be too much for her. Best wishes.

Well, I don't really know that there will be a trial. He was arrested for a DUI crash, and the blood alcohol levels will prove that. The part about following her, which seems to be a mixture of the intoxication, road rage, or whatever, will probably be a moot point because he does live on the road and home seems to have been his destination. When he hit her, he was only a few doors down from his house (and this is a rural road) - he was going so fast that her back end (tail lights, etc.)is all tucked under and the trunk and back doors won't open.
The accident happened around 7:30PM, not real late at night like you might think for someone to be out drinking that much.

Oh cinnamOn, I'm so glad that your daughter wasn't hurt anymore than she was. Road rage is such a thing to be afraid of these days, and in the hands of a drunk, I shudder to think what worse things could have happened. I'm so sorry she was injured, but she certainly did the right thing in calling dad and the police.

I really hope your daughter is OK Cinnam0n. What a horrible experience.
Everything is going well at the moment, with me - and two highs to look forward to. Today, it is a theatre trip with Mum - this time Half a Sixpence, then, tomorrow, mt wonderful Twin nieces are 21 Me and Mum are going out for a celebration meal with them, and their parents.
I started my new college course, and I think I am going to enjoy it.

My low of the week was receiving a phone call friday evening (the one we all dread) to say my daughter was in a car accident.
The high was thas althought she was badly bruised and had to be cut out of her car, she only fractured her left patella and had 10 stitches in her left leg.
They will operate on her knee tomorrow and she will have to wear a brace for 4 - 6 weeks untill it heals.

Our friends 20 year old son, was in a car accident 3 weeks ago, is only able to move his one arm and barely lift the other and just been taken off the ventilator. They do not know if he will ever walk again. My daughter must have had an angel sitting on her shoulder on friday.

Hope next week will be better.

Dreadful news indeed, Lady1 . I am glad that nothing worse happened to your daughter and I'll say a prayer for tomorrow's operation and for a quick healing.

Lady and Cinnam0n - here's hoping for that everything's okay with your daughters.

Lady - at that school thing I was at last week they had a speaker there who had been in an accident at 19 and became a quadrapledgic and it sounds like he has similar abilities to your friends son. What an inspiration he was as he can do all sorts of things now with a tiny bit of help and a lot of determination. Even learnt to fly since his accident.

I know it may be a little raw still for your friends and even for you but his story is worth a read - for anyone. http://www.sambailey.com.au/default.asp?PageID=4

Here's hoping for a full recovery for your daughter Lady1. Thinking of you and your family.
I've got a highlight a lowlight today. Yesterday, we had a wonderful birthday celebration for my niece's birthdays. A good time was had by all.
But today, my Uncle (Mum's eldest brother)died peacefully. Mum's one of thirteen - seven of them are still alive - ranging from nearly 60 to 86. My Uncle hasn't been in the best of health the last few years. But the small bit of comfort, is that his brothers and sisters went to celebrate his birthday with him, just before he died. I know he enjoyed this.

Sorry to hear all the bad news but it is so much better to be able to share it with people who you know care as we all do here.

My low is for some time now there haven't been any highs, if that makes sense. The nearest I got was my 3rd and extremely delayed TV filming being advertised as being on 'some time in the autumn' which is promising. Other than that my routine seems like a hamster wheel where I see the same places however fast I run. I've also been insulted at my part time job for making mistakes on a job I said I wasn't qualified to do and he still insisted I did it. My boiler packed up, was repaired and lasted a day before packing up again, and the plumber is busy 30 miles away.
And the cat has been getting furballs. Yes, when you've had a hard day and come home to a surprise message you either laugh, cry or write about it.

Thank you all for your wishes. Thanks for the article Copago. So sorry to hear about your uncle Jane but great he got to share in your nieces 21st birthday celebrations before he died. Holding thumbs for you satuguru for your 'sometime in the autumn'.

My daughter turns 30 on Saturday so we have something good to look forward to. Trying to plan a small suprise celebration for her.

Well, I've started, so (even though it's all on my blog) I'll continue. A post here just now reminded me all the lovely colours we have here, and this blue was always my favourite, we had one person who always used it and maybe now he's gone I might take it over. My mum always said it suited me (no idea why...).
Anyway, the boilerman promised to come tomorrow evening, the temperature dropped 5 degrees meanwhile and the one gas heater plus one fan heater are stopping me from catching the flu (it really does follow exposure to the cold for me). Besides that I've been using the methods shown in the 'Learn to be like Uri Geller' thread video and although everyone in the video twisted their forks beyond recognition in minutes mine remains fork shaped. But as a research item it's still pretty impressive and I'm following up all his research when I have the time. I've been waiting for a repeatable psychic ability for years and if he can do it and show others how he is the one I've been waiting for.

The highlight of my day is right now I'm hearing some boisterous man in my office repeatedly say "Holla Back" and it's making me laugh.
