I saw "The Sixth Sense" a while ago, but I never got the ending. Can someone explain the ending to the movie to me please?

[Edited to remove the spoilers within the message. (Also corrected the capitalization - sorry! I just had to do it; I couldn't help it!) Linda1]

Teeny, we are not supposed to post spoilers in this forum. I'm going to send you a Private Message with an explanation.

Could you please edit your post and remove your shortened storyline?

Thanks LadyC, and when you get done with that one, can you pleease explain the end of 2001 a Space Odyssey to me so that I don't leave this world a village idiot?

All those apes.

Yes teenytigger we don't give away things like that because we have people around the world who watch things like popular TV shows and films and they don't like the ends to be revealed!

I know the end of that film left me and my daughter and her friend talking for an hour. So let LadyC do her thing!

This movie was great. It sparked a lot of discussion between me and my friends, too. And, I was so excited that, even though I was seeing it about 2 years after the movie came out, no one had revealed the ending to me. So, I got to experience it just as the people who saw it in the theaters did.

I went ahead and edited the original post. Wasn't sure when teeny was going to be coming in here next.

It helps to watch The Sixth Sense a second time, keeping the ending in mind.

As for 2001: A Space Odyssey... here is my interpretation of the ending: There is a baby floating around in outer space. And there are monkeys. Have I said too much?

I didn't understand it at all! If there was symbolism in any of that, it went zooming right past me. I even read the book by Arthur C. Clarke, and I still didn't understand it!!

Perhaps we'll have to have a support group for those of us who thought they were intelligent rational humans, conversant in many things and yet, I have watched the Space Odyssey five times and still get frustrated.
I'll always be the boy who cries out at the Emporer's procession for some things in life I suppose. "But, he's not wearing anything!"

That monolith and those bones flying all around, still haunts me!

This is why I'm still walking around thinking there is a fault to my "intelligence"!
I hate going to films that everyone finds fantastic only not to get it! The most recent one was Castaway.

As to the "Sixth Sense" I really found it a profound film and without discussing too many details, it caused me to reflect on many things.
Though it was rather dark, I found it a message of hope.
It isn't coincidental that the author of the book was Indian.
However if people like horror films and think this is one of those, then I recommend you make another choice.

Heather, I intrepet the ending of 2001 to be...(if this is a spoiler, Linda, my apologies. You feel free, no hard feelings on my part, to delete it, OK?)...

Anyhows, Heather, you see, Only the director Himself knew what he Meant--rest of the entire world are left to say "Huh????"

As for Sixth Sense, the ending was the most thought provoking since Scarlet's at the end of GWTW.

With regards to Castaway... I didn't, until reading your post, realize that there was something about the ending to get! ARGH! I watched that movie once, in the theatres, and even though Dave bought it on DVD I haven't watched it again. It was too boring.

Boy, I feel so much better, I can raise my head proud in society now. I thought I might have a screw loose or something.
Thanks my friends!
Now Carrie, that was a good ending!

about 2001...

i think what the director was trying to show (at the beginning w/the apes), was man millions of years ago, and when we first were really able to use our intelligence for some purpose. Then it goes on to millions of years later when we have the ability to travel through space...
(i guess it's just proving how far mankind has come... or something).
