A very lazy day today so I have uploaded a photo from my last trip to the garden centre.

A Dove that was willing to pose for a photo.

Our kitty Duchess "in jail." Actually, she is sitting in a kitchen chair looking out the back.

My cat won't do anything cute. If I do catch him in a good position he will move the second I switch the camera on.

We're known for having a lot of mosquitoes. So why not the world's largest near Komarno, Manitoba.

Nice close-ups of the dove and Duchess.

When I was a kid, we used to scamper up and down these cliffs and in and out of the caves; but now it's all been closed off with a hideous wire-netting fence at the bottom (part of the fence is just visible in the lower right-hand corner).

Jersey is not only famous for its cows but also for the Jersey Royals, a variety of potato unique to the island. These potatoes are rather special, in my opinion, and command a very high price. Today when shopping for some food I spotted the new Royals and wanted to buy some BUT not from the supermarket where they will be several days old. I decided to head for one of the roadside stalls where you buy your potatoes (or whatever else they sell) and put your money in the tin.

When we had our holidays in Jersey, the hotel guests were encouraged to buy some fresh Jersey Royals to take home. I always used to think that if everyone did that, the aeroplane would have trouble getting off the ground. Then we'd have all had our chips!

They actually sell gift boxes of them at the airport!

As I type this I have some gently steaming, I will eat them with some butter, oooer, I can't wait.

One reason I moved where I did, this is the park just beyond the end of my road. When I lived even closer till I was 5 my dad used to take me here before he went to work and I'd grub around looking for things in the mud by the reservoir (not in the picture but just to the left). They removed the running track and swings but the rest is more or less as it was 40 years ago.

We've had the spring flowers, but I noticed today that my geraniums have their first tentative blooms out, so I snapped one:

I forgot to post Tuesday, and I'm a tad late for Wednesday, another day without much happening for picture-taking purposes. Here, then, is Winston saying "Gee, Mum, can't you put that camera down and get our lunch?"

I have the brochure for the St Louis Arch my grandparents brought back from there, I'd be terrified going up in the tiny carriages and stepping onto the observation platform. To be honest I got vertigo looking up at the London Eye from the entrance!

Here is Hendon Central Station, taken standing on a stool I took for the purpose, and in between a wall and a metal fence. You can just see it in the corner but I was lucky to get it at all, the gap is about half an inch.

The beautiful cascade gardens of Banff National Park, Canada

You can usually see mountains in the background but when we were there they had terrible forest fires and the smoke has obscured them.

The building on the left (in Rye, near Hastings) is an ancient friary of an order with the delightful name of The Friars of the Sack. The friary is said to date from the 1260s: from what I can discover about the holy brethren, they did indeed get the sack shortly after that, being dissolved by order of the Council of Lyon in 1274.

Yesterday I showed a photo of where I bought my potatoes the other day, this photo shows where one can buy nice fresh fish. It is a bunker built by the Germans during WWII. At least shopping can be more interesting than wandering around a supermarket although I do most of my shopping in one it has to be said.

Once again the weather was yucky - wet snow and rain, so my camera stayed home when I went out. This is from Sunday, and was dessert after a rather large Easter dinner. There's a slice of pumpkin pie somewhere under all the ice cream and fruit!

The 'New River' at Broxbourne, a few hundred metres from my home. Completed in 1613, during the reign of James I, to carry drinking water to London - and still doing it today. They built things to last in those days!

I wish I could claim these lovely dogs were ours. But no, they belong to a relative of our neighbours. I came back from our cycle ride today with a few scenery shots but the photo of these well-behaved and friendly dogs is better than those. Photograph shown with the kind permission of the dogs' owner:

Who doesn't like spiders? She got quite big last summer in my garage window.

I believe she is a funnel web spider.
