if so which ones? I watched one Japanese series called, 'Happy 2.' It was subtitled(a big help considering I don't know any Japanese). I watched it like last summer, there was 8 episodes and then it was cancelled [Frown] . I remembered i first stumbled upon it by flippin channels while waiting for commercials to end for a show i was watching and i remember seeing ppl speaking Japanese. Whenever I see Japanese shows i at least have to try to listen to the dilect to see if they say any of like the 8 words i know. Then there was dogs on the show. The show revolved around a veternarian who died and his blind widow and her family. It was very touching...i remember having serveral tears following while watching the ending of the first episode. Anyways as for movies, I have watched a few Chinese movies...

The most recent foreign film (I am an American) I watched was "Trainspotting". That was one messed up Scottish movie. I used to catch "Dr. Who" on PBS when I was a kid, and sometimes I can't help but watch "Sabado Gigante" on Univison. My Spanish isn't all that good, but I get the gist of it and you will never see so many beautiful women and fat old men in one place!

Good to see you, JanieE! Keeping my eyes open for the one's I haven't come across yet! YES...I watch quite a bit of "foreign" TV. My favourites are from British TV, mostly on the PBS stations. The Vicar of Dibley...Keeping Up Appearances...all of them. And Cracker! oooooohh! And just ever so many! But I also watch East Indian TV. They have some amazing historical theatrical productions! I don't understand a word, but they can hold my attention for awhile. Also, hubby's Italian, and we have TLN, though we want RAI...and am forced to see a lot of that, too! We also have a First Nations station available to us, and though that's not foreign, I don't understand inuktatuk(sp?).

Yep! I watch them all the time! Besides American, British and Australian ones, I watch a lot of German and Belgian series, either on Dutch tv or on German/Belgian tv.

Yes. I watch a lot of Britcoms, my favourites being Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served, Fawlty Towers. I was not that fond of Monty Python's Flying Circus, but my father splits his sides at that show. Some more of my favourite British shows are A Touch of Frost, Dalzell (?) & Pascoe, Heartbeat. There are also a lot of good British cooking shows such as the Naked Chef and I absolutely adored "Two Fat Ladies".

There was a really excellent series made in Germany called "Heimat" which is untranslatable but roughly means homeland. It followed a rural German family from about 1918 to recent times. It was first broadcast on the BBC in the 1980's and is about 20 hours long in total ! Perhaps the longest arty production ever, but it gives a unique insight into German culture and history.

Yes! Those are my favorites, always has been. I especially love Russian films, Eastern European films, they're great. Obviously I don't like ALL of them. Also Spanish, Italian, French. Mexican, Argentinian, I love them all! I watched an Arab movie the other day and you'd think it'd be bad but it was great. I don't discriminate, bring all movies to me lol.

I watch "Absolutely(?) Fabulous" and "Monty Python's Flying Circus" on BBC. I think English comedy is kinda funnier than Amercan comedy. And does Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journies count? They were taped in New Zealand, so... I dont know...

I agree with lefois, I also love the East Indian T.V. when it's on (usually weekends here). The movies are fascinating, some with lots of action and humor, and the pop/rock videos at times really rock! I don't understand a word either, but sometimes that makes it more fun to watch.

I've also been a fan of British sitcoms since I was a teen. Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones, Absolutely Fabulous, Mr. Bean, Blackadder, etc. -- all big favorites which have a place of honor in my video library.
