I knew a soldier once, who told me that tale, but with a single sheet of toilet paper, not a bus ticket...

Okay - I've a story to tell about toilet paper.
There are seemingly a lot of women out there who bemoan the fact that the man (or men) in their lives are able to achieve tremendous feats of strength and engineering, however are unable to change the humble emtpy roll of toilet paper.
Case in point. My beloved son hollers at me like a redneck the other night from the smallest room in the house. Suffering from that illness known as 'selective deafness', I conveniently ignore the pleas for assistance, thinking that the 14 year old boy-child will just get off his proverbial and get his own god-forsaken toilet paper.
How wrong was I? He gets up, daks down, walks past where we keep the toilet paper stored, and says "Mum, can you get me some more toilet paper". I don't know whether to laugh (it was funny) or to beat my head against the wall. I mean, here one is, daks down, dirty bot-bot dangling in the breeze, walking about asking someone else to re-trace the steps they'd just taken in order to get them some more loo paper!
Is it a man thing? I mean, if you can figure out how to change the oil in a car (which I can do, by the way), why is it one of the mysteries of the unverse how to change a toilet roll when it is devoid of paper?

I can't believe this thread is still going. Was wondering if it has beaten the marmite/vegimite thread yet.
Not 'till it gets to 14 or so pages! Or was it more...
Roofoo, use a bus ticket!

Well, I can change the toilet paper, so I don't think that that's the issue. What it is, however, is a lazy man thing.

Maybe the roll doesn't want to change. Ever think of that??
I'm the culprit in the house I'm ashamed to say - always wait until the moment that's it's needed to get another one where the other half always has one waiting ready to go when he notices it getting low.

In our house I have to say it is the kids who wait till the paper has run out! Hubby usually has a stack in the medicine cabinet - just in case. LOL

I have heard called many things in the past but he must be quite agile to manage it in the medicine cabinet

Not to worry I walk down the street and see many used bus tickets just thrown on the ground. I'm sure I could find some of those...

Can we have a poll?
What is the gender of the person who usually changes the bog roll in your house?
How about - how many sheets to do you usually use for a number 2?
And ladies - how many for a number 1?
For me it's 3 for the 'good' stuff, and 6 for government issue - hey, I get bored at work - and we're talking about a number 1. Number 2's have a number of variables - how 'bad' it is, and how 'good' the TP is (government VS home, cheap VS expensive), etc.

Oh the things we talk about on here Welcome to all you new member who happen to stop by this thread and get scarred for life 1st question: All of the family in my house is female, so there is a 99.9% chance that it will be a female who changes the roll. Sheets for a No. 1 is about 4. The bad TP, probably about 7 or 8. No. 2 - It depends. I will also add a question. Folder or scruncher? I am half and half, sometimes I fold, sometimes I scrunch.

ROFLOL! You guys are too much. It's just me and hubby and it's usually me that forgets to put the new roll on and I leave him stranded. (Yesterday comes to mind... ) I am an "almost" germophobe so the paper gets out of hand in my hand. Both for 1 and 2.
