There have been many good mini series on television lately, I'm just wondering what is your favourites one(s).

Two really good ones are: . . .

North and South
Frank Herbert's Dune

But my favorite is:

V
V: The Final Battle

[Ed note: I edited the post to change the subject from all caps to normal capitalisation. We're trying to get rid of the 'all caps' or 'all lower-case' things. Thanks!]

I think Band of Brothers on HBO is the best mini series ever. Stephen Speilberg is amazing and Tom Hanks is my favorite actor so combining the two makes for a great show. I don't care how many times I have seen them I still watch them when they come on.

My favourite one is
Anne Frank-the Two day mini series of last year was two days long. It was well done and by the end it made Janie a little teary-eyed-it was soo touching and sad

Another Good one: 'Trudeau'-I never watched this one, but I heard it was a great documentary/mini series on the former Canadian Prime Minister.

I'm probably the only one around here old enough to remember Betty Davis in Harvest Home (adapted from Tom Tryon's book) or Stephen Kings 'Salem's Lot--but they scared me Silly!!! [Smile]

V was excellent, too.

My favourites would only be relevant to the older Aussies in here.

The Dismissal- the story of the sacking of a Prime Minister- all the behind the scenes intrigue was fascinating stuff

The other was 'Bodyline'- the history of the infamous cricket tour of 1930 by the English..

This may date me a bit, but I think "Roots" and "Shogun" in the late 70s early 80s were excellent. PBS (here in the states) has shown some wonderful mini-series. I think Ken Burns' "The Civil War" is probably the best mini-series I have ever seen, and another historical series "Liberty" regarding the American Revolution was also excellent.

I did enjoy the "V" mini-series and what I have seen of "Band of Brothers" was great (I don't get HBO so I had to borrow a friends taped copy) but man-o-man is it violent. I also enjoyed "Shackleton" and "Longitude". Both were A&E originals.

I guess a pattern is developing: I am a sucker for historical documentaries and docu-dramas!

Shogun, The best there is, the best there was, the best there is ever gonna be....

Masada comes in a close second, V I liked but with Marc Singer as the leader of the Human ressistance, I just had the thought of the Beastmaster fighting outer-space lizard men...

I liked the Sci-fi channels adaptation of Dune. I also like The Last Don, an adaptation of Mario Puzo novel.
