Well... what Comedy made me laugh the most?
Either Airplane! or Murder by Death. Those movies are beyond hilarious!
Actually the movie that made me laugh the most times was Shriek! If You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th. But that's because I'm a horror fan. And a love of dark, satirical humor. So this was a really fun watch. The first time. The second time... it all starts to lose it's humor.
So, best? It's back to either Murder by Death or Airplane! Murder by Death is a bit slow, while Airplane! just keeps them coming at an insanely fast pace. And I know people that hate silly comedies that just laughed their butt off at this movie.
So, I'm going to have to go with Airplane!

I agree with TrueHorrorFan. Airplane! makes me laugh almost non-stop for the entire run of the film. The sight gags are brilliant, the lines are hilarious. I know it's kind of stupid, but that's the whole point. You have to take it for what it is and enjoy it, because it's just really really funny.
I would also rank Some Like it Hot, Shaun of the Dead, Caddyshack and There's Something About Mary up there as some of the best comedies of all time.

Ooh...
Some Like it Hot is too...old-fashioned for it's humor to still hold up today. I also side myself with the crowd that think: A) embarassment humor is overrated, and B) men-in-dresses is just not that funny.
There's Something About Mary is just plain gross. Way too gross.
Caddyshack is only really funny because of Rodney Dangerfield. And out of all of the comedians in the movie, he gets the least screentime.

It's a hard one....
But I nominate the following...
Anything featuring Monty Python... geniuses! A Fish Called Wanda Planes, Trains and Automobiles Young Frankenstein (love the bit with the bookcase) Zoolander Animal House Hudson Hawk The Whole Nine Yards
and... correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe anyone has mentioned Revenge of the Nerds.. which is definitely one of the funniest movies I have ever seen... well, it's in the top 5 anyway...
There are probably heaps of others, but these are the only ones that spring to mind at this present point in time...

I have a strange sense of humor and I love cheesy horror films. My picks, therefore, are Army Of Darkness, and Dead Alive. I would have to give a shout out for the ever-classic, Airplane. And I must admit that I actually enjoyed Zoolander.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I have many favourite comedy movies, I love all the Monty Pythons, Peter Sellers is always a rib-tickler, the old 'Thin Man' series is amusing, albeit dated. I appreciate the one-liner humour in "Star Wars". John Cleese and 'Fawlty Towers' cracks me up, Manuel is a killer. Mel Brooks' films are always funny, but most of the Woody Allen flicks leave me cold. Some of the Jim Carrey movies such as 'Liar, Liar' are amusing, but i find the modern comedies which insist on explaining the humour leave me cold. Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider, are, in my opinion, over-rated. I have never appreciated 'Friends', and 'Seinfeld' is a waste of air-time, in my opinion. John Candy, (may he rest in peace) is not funny, just a fat man on the silver and big screen. Gene Wilder is a a stitch, as is Richard Pryor, who is one of the funniest stand-ups i have ever seen! Yahoo Serious is also excellent.

I have that borrowed from the movie store and I am going to watch it in the near future. It seems pretty funny.

Can't imagine that nobody has mentioned my favorite one... "The Heartbreak Kid."
I must have seen it 4-5 times and it's still hilarious. When Grodin explains his problem to Eddie Albert... or when he's discussing the "sincerity of the potatoes"... hilarious stuff.
Another one not mentioned is "Fierce Creatures." I liked it bettr than the often compared "Fish Called Wanda."

First to say, how it can be asked picks of the *best ever* and then have something chosen be called "dated" is a bit confusing to me. Ever is a v-e-r-y long time; it didn't begin in 1985, despite accusations thereto ! Anyway, looking at 'all-time' (which would include any number of comedy genres within that large framework), I'd probably pick: - Almost anything when Buster Keaton was on the top of his game. If he was good, he was hysterical. - "The Phiadelphia Story", subtle (or, some say, sophisticated ) as it happened, was hilarious! - Whoever said "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" - hearty agreement there. - I gotta say it, there were moments in "Tootsie" that had me almost peeing my pants. - Agreed, too, on "Young Frankenstein" ("Blazing Saddles", too, speaking of Mr. Brooks) - I think, though, out of all the comedies I've seen (and with due respect to the millions that I haven't) that the most entertaining, occasionally uproarious, intelligent and heartful one would be "Some Like It Hot". Personally, I find men clumsily disguised as women a laugh riot (unless Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes are in such a film, that is). I guess I'm rickety and don't find this "gross-out" comedy all that fun. I liked it better back when it was an option (it's clearly not a "new" idea). Now? It seems there's no comedies OTHER than that sort of thing. The funniest movie I've seen in a decade, quite frankly, was the first "Shrek". Why I found that so funny I can't tell ya. But I did. Must have been the right day for me to see that particular movie? Comedy's like that, I think. It has to hit you at the very right time. Whew ! Sorry about that. Hadn't planned to write a book. I will shut up now...

You have done a fine job running down some great screen comedies, Gats. It does bear mentioning, however, that none of them promenently features a gopher.
