English Civil War re-enactors. The officer's orange sash shows he is Parliamentarian.

"Awww, sweet."

Exactly my reaction, out loud, before reading Sue's post! They're adorable.

We had a visitor and we went for a drive. I snapped this Red Winged Blackbird at a marsh just outside the city.

I agree with the "Awww sweet" comments, but was at first a bit worried, when I saw it immediately following my re-enactors image

The Colonnade on Hastings sea-front, part of Burton's early 19th-century St Leonards. It looks a bit grubby today and is given over to souvenir shops and cafés.

Ewk!

I popped up to the shops and bank as yesterday was a public holiday and so is tomorrow which means the supermarket will be closed. Then I realised that today is my 'half birthday' so I bought myself a treat - a fresh cream doughnut!

One of the many thatched cottages in the county. This one is, I believe, authentic Tudor.

Not that I ever used it, here is the inside of one of my local underground stations, Colindale. If you wait long enough you might even catch a train.

Yesterday I walked through our very colourful and beautiful flower market and stupidly didnt take a picture. This is part of what I bought though. There were these reddy brown orchids, some daisy things, some gypsophilla and some orange pineapple flowers(don't know the name in English) All this for about 5 US$!

Lovely bird pics, Argus and SOTHC - and Santana, your son's snail picture is quite superb.

In spite of its grisliness, I find something appealing about this "memento mori" on a funeral slab in the church at Brightling.

Quite common on the prairies is this little guy, the Richardson Ground Squirrel sometimes called the Prairie Dog.

This one was quite tame, I think people have been feeding him even though they shouldn't. This was taken near a picnic site.

This is the related Colindale platform where if you wait long enough you may see a train. If you're really lucky it'll be on your platform, and if it's your birthday it'll be going on the same branch you want without having to change at Camden Town. This was why I bought a motorbike the day I was 16 and never looked back.
