My team is the Toronto Maple leafs. I supported them ever since I was a little boy. I think the reason I started to support them is my Dad was and still is a big Leafs fan. I enjoy Saturday nights when I still visit my Dsd and we watch the Leafs together.

Oakland Raiders (NFL)- When I was little, their quarterback had the same first name as mine, so I started following them. Been rooting for them ever since.
Los Angeles Clippers (NBA)- I went to college in San Diego, where they were located before the move north. As a poor student, you could buy a $4 dollar nosebleed ticket and usually get down to the bottom section. Hopefully, they'll win a championship in my lifetime.
California Angels (MLB)- Because of Nolan Ryan...

Hovenaut, I am a die-hard USC fan - alumnus and season-ticket holder. Really looking forward to the pair of USC-OSU games, one in Columbus, one in Los Angeles. A childhood friend of mine (known him almost 25 years!) is a HUGE OSU fan and we will both go to the respective games. If I represent USC (have to wear my lucky Ronnie Lott jersey), am respectful and all that, will I have any problems at that stadium outside the usual expected heckling? I'm fine with being heckled a little, part of it all, but fans are pretty cool in general? Went to the Raiders-Bengals game last year in Cincinnati, had a BLAST. Sure a little ribbing (Raiders were terrible last year; we deserved it) but good fans, we all had a great time!

New Jersey Devils (NHL)-New Jersey doesn't got any other good sports team. Also, Martin Broduer is my favorite plater. Started when my friend got free tickets to a game. FRONT ROW SEATS!
New York Mets (MLB)-Everyone I know is Yankee fans, so I'll put up a stand. Besides, the Mets aren't known to waste money like the Yankees. Been a Mets fan since the start when I could decide for myself.
Boston Red Sox (MLB)-Just three years ago, my boyfriend's die hard Red Sox.

Sydney Roosters (NRL) - I have supported them since i was way little, my family are all Bulldog supporters, but i went a different way and started following the Roosters when i was like 3 or 4. My dad bought me a Bulldogs jumper when i was like 3 and apparently i refused to wear it, because i was a Rooster, and i have stuck with them the entire time, and we hadnt been playing to well last season and the beginning of this season, but now, we have our new coach, the legendary Brad 'Freddy' Fittler, and we havent lost in the last 4 rounds, one more win and we can make the top 8, and make the semi's.
Sydney Swans (AFL) - I hate this sport to be honest, i dont get it, but i go for the Swans because AFL is a Victorian based sport, and Swans are the only NSW based team in the game, so that is the only reason i support them, and to me it is a good enough reason.

Arsenal FC is in the blood and has always been the case for the family. My great grandfather used to watch them when they played in Plumstead, South London before they moved to Highbury in 1913. My grandfather who was raised in Enfield, North London used to watch them in the glorious 1930's and told me that he witnessed all the great games and players of that era. I came to life in 1972 and it was my father who took me to see my first ever match, at Wembley in 1979. I was really just too young to pick a team, but my grandfather told me that the team in red is the team to support. Imagine my confusion when Manchester United played that day in red and Arsenal in yellow. It didnt take long though for me to know that the best team that day was in yellow and it was Arsenal.
Well with a 2-0 lead and little time left, all around me were singing and happy, i remember little of the game, but i do remember some Arsenal fan screaming abuse when United pull one back. My dad, a Celtic man, said to me that Arsenal will still win, but as those words came from his mouth United scored yet again to pull 0-2 to 2-2 in the space of 90 seconds...all around me was in tears and i could hear the singing of the United fans. But........this is where the love began , the real love affair that was and still to this day was brought to life...a man from Sunderland..yes i was six years old....scored the winning goal less than a minute after United had scored, amazingly Arsenal in yellow won the match 3-2. I was of course to see many many more battles between the two in the years taht followed..but that day...was the day..
Arsenal were forever in my heart.

Pro Football (American): Washington Redskins. Started when I saw them lose a game to the Dallas Cowboys 35-34 (Mark Moseley missed an extra point) in 1979. Hating the Cowboys was mantra in my house. Pulling for them got you thrown out.
I like the Carolina Panthers, too, but they're number two on my like chart. When the Panthers play the Redskins, I pull for Washington all the way.
Major League Baseball: Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Phillies because they beat Kansas City in the World Series in 1980, and the Dodgers because they finally righted the wrongs of 1977 and 1978 and beat the Yankees in the World Series in 1981 (the first strike year I can remember).
NBA: Before the Charlotte Hornets came along, my teams were the Detroit Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams play basketball the way I like it--physical, tough, no-blood-no-foul, take no prisoners. As opposed to the Los Angeles Lakers, who epitomized finesse.
I may be the only person in Charlotte who still pulls for the Hornets since they've moved to New Orleans. They're still my team, and yes, I do pull for them whenever they play the Bobcats.
NHL: The Philadelphia Flyers, although I also like the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes play in my college hometown of Raleigh, and I still know a lot of folks up in that area. When the Canes won the Cup in 2006, it was a sweet moment. Except that I pull for Philadelphia when they play Carolina, because I pulled for them first.
College Basketball: Anybody but Duke, Indiana and anybody Bobby Knight coaches. My loyalties, though, lie with NC State (my alma mater), North Carolina (my team since childhood) and UNC-Charlotte (the hometown team).
College Football: I detest Florida State and Miami (Florida), but I'll pull for Florida State over Miami if they're bashing each other's brains out. My loyalties, though, lie with NC State, North Carolina, and virtually everyone else in the ACC (including Duke).

LET'S GO BRONCOS - LET'S GO!
I've been a Brisbane Broncos since the club started in 1988 - I have a signed, framed jersey from their first season that is one of my prize possessions (I'm in touch with my inner Bogan.....)!
I lived in a house full of NSW supporters (funny that, being from NSW and all) and, according to my Grandma, was a "somewhat contrary child". I've always supported Queensland. The natural extension of this was to support the first non-NSW team in what was the then NSWRL (I don't count the Canberra Raiders - their little territory is land-locked by NSW).
Wally Lewis, Alfie Langer were my favourite players. Both are living legends in my book.
I support the Angels in MLB. While Dave Nielson was my absolute idol (I was a catcher), I always wished I could have caught for Nolan Ryan. Failing the Angels, I also like the Red Sox, the Mets, and the Blue Jays. On my list of things to do before I die is to go to the US and see a game or two..... *sigh*

I'm a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan in American College Football. Why? Well, because I grew up in Lincoln and went to school at UNL, of course. They're having rather a bad.. uh.. era at the moment. But it used to be EASY to be a Huskers fan. They were almost always top 10. I will admit now that I root for the Michigan Wolverines as well. My hubby is a Michigan fan, and while HE is snide about MY team, as long as they aren't playing each other (which they never are) I'm perfectly willing to divide my affections and root for his team. Only other sport I really follow is NHL hockey, and we're Pittsburgh Penguins fans in this house. My daughter currently has a crush on Sidney Crosby. ("He's #87. He has pretty brown eyes.") I didn't ever really have any exposure to hockey until I got together with my husband, and he's a Pens fan, so it was sort of natural. For a short (short short) while I watched NASCAR Winston Cup. Two whole seasons, I think, and I pulled for Ward Burton. Beginning of the 2nd season he won Daytona. But really, I'm gonna admit something. I was a fan of the CAT car. I loved it, and thought it was cute, and I didn't really care that Ward Burton was driving it. It really wasn't long before NASCAR no longer held any interest for me.

I started following the Texas Rangers when I moved to Dallas in June 1996...which, ironically, was the first year they made the playoffs. I've been a fan since. Even moving out of Dallas, I'm still supporting my Rangers...all the way!
