I agree with you trojan. Our designated smoking area at work was next to the bike sheds (shades of school perhaps?) until the cyclists complained that it was unhealthy for them. This was after they had cycled through nose to tail traffic and breathed in goodness knows what from the fumes.
Our local charity shop has just acquired a large "No Smoking" sign. I can't remember the last time I saw someone smoking in a shop.
Though I broadly agree with the smoking ban, I do wonder where the money to police it is coming from. I live in a relatively low crime area, but we do have a problem with vandalism and graffiti. I'd rather see money spent on patrols to stop these problems, instead of paying someone to make sure no-one lights up in church.
