It is miserable and raining out so I am staying in. The Queen has her official birthday today and this is the view from one of the windows in my kitchen.

Thanks for your comment, I hadn't realised we had forum members from Buenos Aires
Maybe you could post some images of your delightful country?

I'll look for some pictures of Buenos Aires that I took a few months ago, and as soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I'll add one here

I have to say I love this thread, it's really lovely. It allows you to have a better understanding of different places in the world and that's just wonderful

I think it does. It could be the real Tardis of course. Has it always been there, or did it just appear?

Well they've filmed an awful lot of the new episodes in this vicinity, but it's been there as long as I can remember, and since the addition of the scarf some years ago, it's become a bit of a landmark.

Been busy gardening today so I haven't a recent shot, (I think everyone will be tired of my roses by now) Here's another photo from my trip to Australia. This was at a Game Reserve (Zoo). His name is Jack The Ripper. He got that name because he killed several of the females they tried to put him with.

Click on the link below for a larger close up of Jack:

I've been reading about your camera MG and it seems you don't have to use a separate macro setting. The lens will automatically focus from 5 centimetres away to infinity. Since it is an 8.1 megapixel camera, it should give good macro detail from 5 cm away.

Thanks TW. I have managed to take a couple of photos of flowers which have turned out well with the macro setting but I've found you really can't get too close. I don't think my camera is able to take really close up pictures like that of the screw or the needlepoint stitches. But I'll keep messing about with it. The beauty of digital pictures - you don't have to pay for them and you aren't wasting film so you can experiment to your heart's content.

I took it this morning in Newport - on the road leading out of the city towards Chepstow.

I think the big prize was for a picture of a Tardis. Any old blue police boxes still hanging around?

I'm told there may be one near Earls Court Underground station.

I was up in London today, but not in that part of town. There are a lot of surviving contemporary paintings of Queen Elizabeth I, but this is apparently the only known statue of her from her lifetime. It originally adorned the old City entrance at Ludgate: when the gate was pulled down in the 18th century the statue was moved to its present site above the vestry door of St Dunstan's-in-the-West, Fleet Street.

I was taking some more pictures of my roses this afternoon, and Katt came to the window to see what I was doing.

I went for a little walk around the villages near me and took some interesting ones, more of which later. There is lots of fruit out, passionfruit, bananas, lychees , longans and amazingly...

Congrats to Maggie on coming up with a genuine Tardis-type police phone box. (I missed it yesterday because I didn’t realize a new page had started in the thread).

This remarkably ornate street lamp stands outside the Law Courts in the Strand, London.

I came across this scene yesterday. A person coming out of the house ready to get in a racing car and drive away. In the background, a couple of dinosaurs are locked in a battle for supremacy. Not the sort of thing you come across everyday and therefore worth a photograph:

Hmm, now do you notice the lawn? Not a dandilion to be seen. Could this be TW's own toys?

I WAS going to mow my lawn today, opened the sliding door to accomodate the power lead, changed into my shorts and gardening shoes, collected the lawnmower from the side passage only to find that it had started to rain! Reversed all previous actions then looked about for something to snap and spotted the bag of Jelly Belly sweets which arrived from Sara yesterday.

Tom - your living history photos amaze me everytime. Congratulations for spotting all those nice and interesting things and places.

Copago - I love your campfire! Next time I'm around I'll pay a visit

TW - The person in your photo was very wise to wear a helmet . God knows what a dinosaur's tail might do to a human's head! A very fine shot that one.

This Castor Oil plant came out of nowhere last year. We decided to let it live and we are now glad as it proves to be quite a nice ornament for our backyard .

I am loving all this.

Ren, that tree of yours looks great, beautifully framed.

Copago, did you light that fire just to take a photo?

We are all loving this, Sue.

And I am also loving those who made it possible for me .

P.S. I can't look at your Jelly Belly sweets - I'm afraid I might soak my keyboard .

There is a story behind the Jelly Bellies. I love them and used to buy them most days then became diabetic and had to ceased eating them. You can buy sugar free Jelly Bellies, but they are not easy to find and impossible locally.

Knowing how I love them, some of our members have been sending them to me, some have come from the US, from Canada and now from Hong Kong.

Love the roof, Ren. It has character.

Yesterday evening, my Mum, Winston and I were sitting out on my front porch, waiting for the Swiss Chalet guy to deliver our chicken dinner. Winston seems to be licking his lips in anticipation...

A photo of the 'jungle' at the bottom of our garden. I like the garden a bit wild. Animals and insects like it too ..and it means I don't have to cultivate it. The 'mighty oak' is more worryingly mighty than the photo shows. If it went over, it would certainly demolish my out-buildings (behind the bushes). It isn't situated in our garden but I may have to pay to get a few branches lopped.
