Today the picture is from Exmouth - a view I often woke up to, while on holiday

A modern sign for one of London's oldest pubs - the George and Vulture off Cornhill. The sign behind it in the next court is outside London's first coffee-house (now the Jamaica Wine House).

I have a thing about paths, probably from having so many near me which I used to cycle up when I was young. I did that again yesterday in my new patch (relatively) and found one I hadn't seen before which goes right through the cemetery to a little road. I have plenty of churches and gravestone pictures already so concentrated on the paths instead. This was my favourite view.

I went to the open garden after much shall I shan't I - the weather was not clement. It was cool and kept raining on and off. In the end I decided to go as I had been invited by a neighbour who was 'manning' the plant stall and wouldn't be able to look her in the eye next time I see her if I failed to turn up. I bought two camelia plants for £1 each (no doubt will flower in ten years time!) and she later gave me another plant, the name of which I currently have no idea so will need to find out. I took quite a few photos but nothing really spectacular, apart from anything else they wouldn't stay still. The water lilies were nice so I will use one of those...

More toys! This little gang have been gifts over the past several years. The little guy at the back is meant to be a Mountie, but became known as "Maggie's bear" after she took something of a liking to his hat!

This little fellow, with my sister-in-law and I, is about 10 months old. I can only imagine how big he will get by the size of his fron paws!
He will be the last cub born in captivity at Harnas. The government have put a ban on 'captured' lionesses having cubs in captivity.
This is the same lion on my avitar.

Lovely rainbow Copago. I love water lillies Sue. Exmouth looks like an interesting place Jane.

A long-stitch picture done in 'tapestry wool' and embroidery thread on 22 count canvas. The remarkable thing about this picture is that it's stitched by someone who has had to overcome much bad luck. A stroke happened in her early forties. It took away the power of speech and totally paralysed the right-hand side of her body. On top of that, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease about three years ago.

A fire occurred in her house last year. She was badly burned and spent months in hospital. Her left hand (the only one that works) was damaged and it was thought she would be unable to do any more stitching. With just the smallest amount of help and some encouragement from Mrs TW, she has produced this picture. Quite an achievement I think.

Link to larger photo.

Picture and words are shown with the lady's kind permission.

Amazing. Pass on my good wishes to her, and my admiration. Having 'been there and got the t-shirt' I know what a struggle it will have been for her. I am righthanded and I dread to think how I would have coped had it been my right side. I don't think I would have been able to achieve what she has done. Marvellous.

Devon is looking lovely, Jane. I hope you’re having reasonable weather: I’ve heard it’s been pretty wet next door in parts of Cornwall

It’s strange how docile big cats can be. When I think of the damage that my 13-lb tomcat could do with his fangs and claws, I think it must take some courage to stroke a lion cub.

That cottage picture is quite amazing!

This is what I’m drinking from as I surf around the site today.

This was a photo I took yesterday from the garden that I was visiting. I have often seen the garden from the road which runs by the bottom of the garden so it was good to see from the other direction.

The tapestry is wonderful. Tellie's friend reminds me of a man who had been in the British army and was badly injured defusing land mines. He lost an arm and a leg and within a year ran a marathon. Quite remarkable people out there.

There's only a few a year but here is our first frost this morning.

The first two of these flowers came out today. There are oodles of buds, so in a day or so I'll have dozens of 'em!

After knocking down the building on the corner here the first bit that went up was this little florists. They must have opened today as they were moving all the stock in. The area behind hasn't been built on yet but was offices before so probably will be again.
Corner of Golders Green Road.

Some interesting clouds around yesterday. I cancelled the usual cycle ride because of the dire look of them. As it turned out, they didn't actually dump very much water in our area. All day it just looked as if they would. So I took a chance and went out on the bike later in the afternoon ...and then it rained.

Winding Street in Hastings Old Town. It doesn’t wind much any more and it’s hardly an important street today; but once upon a time it was the site of the Hundred Place, where the freemen elected the mayor in the open air, and all important legal business was done.

My wife and I have been touring Britain the past week, so here's an interesting image taken in north Wales. It's a small lake called 'Bochlwyd', but for obvious reasons nicknamed 'Lake Australia'.
I'd love to see it from directly overhead.
