It does bear a passing resemblance to my sewing room!

Today's subject is 'afters'.
I went out to tea with some friends to a club and we had starters and puddings.
Here are the 3 desserts we had
Apple crumble, Sticky toffee pudding and bread and butter pud. I only ate one of them, I expect you can guess which.

I think it is time my lawn was cut again; this plantain is about to seed.

I forgot to mention, this was using macro.

As a kid I loved Russell Thorndike’s novels about Doctor Syn, who led a double life as the mild-mannered rector of Dymchurch in Kent and the chief of a notorious gang of smugglers. So today I thought I’d take a look at Dymchurch, and I found it a pretty boring place. The church was mucked about with in the nineteenth century and the New Hall, where the Lords of the Level once ruled, seems to be the office of the local drainage board, with a little museum that can only be viewed “by appointment.” The sign of the Ship Inn, where Thorndike is said to have drunk, tries to suggest a more adventurous past.

Sorry I've been busy moving my daughter into her new flat so have fallen behind on my promised trip pics. This one is the 'better half' at a campsite called Zelda, our first stop in Namibia. No there were no lions here but each campsite had a name.

You can tell spring has sprung with all the photos of the beautiful flowers. I'll add one of my own.

They've just been planted so in a month I'll take another one show the difference. Hopefully there will be a difference.

As it has now gone midnight I will post another photo I took with the macro. It was only when I looked at it on the computer that I noticed the ant. The flower is about 2 cms in diameter, so less than an inch across.

To see a larger image click here. The detail is amazing, the stamens etc. Incredible.

Thanks TW and Copago for showing me this new toy.

Due to working today, as they say on Blue Peter, here's one I made earlier.

After last week's pond photo someone asked me to add it to a pond group and gave me more ideas what to take. Tomorrow is planned to be Golders Green day plus I just saw some nice gardens on the next block from me, so catching up will be done.

This is the truck taking the wool away. It will eventually go to Adelaide where it is tested and sent to auction.

I couldn't resist taking a photo of this Underwood typewriter in the Postal Museum section of the Museum of Civilization in Hull. It is exactly like the one I used when teaching myself to type at the age of eight! Well, other than the fact that the one I used had a broken 'E' key (I had to manually press the key against the ribbon) and a hole in the platen (which would leave holes in the paper if I forgot to wind past it)...

That typewriter looks like many I used in my earlier working life. With my job I used to work in the offices of many different companies and often needed to use a typewriter to type up instructions.

This is a very traditional Chinese provisions and medicine shop. Lots of strange dried up stuff in jars.

This is a porcupine that is resident at Zelda. His name is Pete and he is around 11 years old. Long time for a porcupine to live but since he is fed and taken care of he will live a lot longer that if he was in the wild. He is eating an apple.

I was out on my bike today and this moth was fluttering about on the path. Out came the camera on macro. Luckily the meuth stayed still long enough to get the shot (some cropping of the background has been done). Does anyone know what its name is? (maybe it's Fred ):

Link to a larger photo

Edit: It looks as if it's a 'Cinnabar' moth.

How about a Cinnabar? There's one on this page.

(Ah, looks like we were searching at the same time. )

I just came up with the same name! Tyria jacobaeae or Cinnabar moth.

http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=101 This one is better.

I loved the shearing sequence, Jill. I hope you get a good price at auction and that Conor is well rewarded for his work. Liked the old typewriter too.

This is Smallhythe Place in Kent, a sixteenth-century cottage that belonged to the actress Ellen Terry for the last thirty years of her life.

This is the dead centre of Golders Green, with the war memorial on the right at the entrance to the station. From 1969-1979 (besides just over a year) I had to get the bus home here from school, although I also had my own transport option from 76. My stop was in the group of trees at the back until Brent Cross shopping centre was built and the bus turned left at the junction.

I've been in Poland the last two weeks, and mostly far from internet access - hope no-one minds if I post just a few images of the trip!
This is the memorial wall at the Gdansk shipyard, where the Solidarity movement began, leading to the downfall of communism throughout most of Europe.

Great photo of the moth TW. I've never seen one that color before. Welcome back Aramis I would be very interested in your photos of Poland. I've never been there.

Here is a photo of my trellis with honeysuckle vines growing up them. I just planted them last summer and they've come back very well. I'm hoping they grow right up and over the small fountain in the middle.
