"just because she was bound doesn't mean he planned it in advance" I find that statement ludicrous! If you tie someone up you have already planned what you are going to do with them. It takes forethought to do that. He murdered his wife and 7 year old child and stayed in the house for up to two days before killing himself. I cannot feel any compassion for a monster like that. I also don't think steroids had anything to do with it. It was cold calculated murder. Here's a link to the latest news click here

From that article: Quote:
Investigators found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscle man nicknamed "The Canadian Crippler" was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage."
This alone would indicate that steroids were a part of his life, whether or not they were a factor in the crime. I think to discount a steroid reaction is, perhaps, not looking at the whole picture. Unless we find out otherwise...

What I meant was he could have tied her up after he knocked her out. You know, killers have been known to do that.

CNN's current article (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/27/wrestler/index.html) says the following: Quote:
But the WWE said evidence gathered in the investigation indicates "deliberation, not rage."
"The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death," said a statement posted on the company's Web site. "By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage."
Investigators found the bodies of Nancy and Daniel Benoit with Bibles placed next to them, authorities have said. "The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage," said the WWE.
Also according to this article, he had been injecting his son with growth hormone, and apparently the son had been diagnosed with a form of dwarfism.
According to a FoxNews article (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,286924,00.html):
Quote:
The former wife of pro wrestling superstar "Stone Cold" Steve Austin broke what had been a court-imposed silence and charged that "domestic and drug abuse is out of hand in the WWE and something needs to be done about it."
His late wife had also filed for a divorce in 2003 alleging he was abusive.
This Foxnews story says that a coworker talked with him during the weekend over the phone (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,286880,00.html):
Quote:
On Saturday, Benoit called a co-worker to say he had missed a flight and would be late for a wrestling event in Texas, WWE said in a timeline posted Tuesday on its Web site. The co-worker said Benoit sounded tired and groggy and said "I love you," which the co-worker found "out of context," WWE said.
When a co-worker who usually travels with Benoit called him later from the Houston airport, Benoit told the co-worker his wife, Nancy, was throwing up blood and that his son, Daniel, also was throwing up. Benoit said he thought it was food poisoning, according to WWE.

Reading all the articles about what happened, it is unbelievable. Benoit knew he had to kill himself or else he'd hang for what he did, especially for what he did to his son.
If L&I doesn't make all the wrestlers in the WWE and ECW get drug tests upon entering every city for an event, I'll be suprised. If this happens, it will be a major blow to Vince McMahon, as the only reason his organization isn't under mandatory drug testing is because it's labeled "Sports Entertainment".

And another bizarre development... At least 13 hours before police found the bodies of the Benoits, someone posted an entry to Benoit's wikipedia biography page announcing the death of his wife, Nancy. Here is the full report.

With this new information, I believe that it sets the stage for doubt as to whether or not Benoit in fact killed his wife, son and then himself.
I can see right were the arrow is pointing..and it is not going to be a pretty picture.

There are ways one can fake an IP address, however. I myself have done it before in my early days online.

I have no respect for this guy. If he wanted to end his life, why take his wife and his 'baby' son out with him? He could have just done himself in. I don't understand why people do this. He has other children out there too. And now they will have to live with the fact that their Dad killed their step Mom and their little brother and himself. I have known survivors of suicide, and these two people (kids at the time their Mom killed herself) blamed themselves for her death until they got help after they were adults, and the Councelor told them that it had nothing to do with them, that it was their Mom's fault. My husband, 6 years ago or so had a co-worker commit suicide because he found out that he had Macular Degeneration (failing eyesight) and was on the virg of divorce anyway and killed himself too. He left behind two kids, in their early 20's that have to live with the fact that Dad killed himself, and they have to do that for the rest of their lives.
People who take their own lives very seldom think of what it does to those they leave behind and how devastating and how tramatic it is for them.
I just think that people that kill themselves are self-centered and chicken. And if they take others out with them, that's even worse. I am old school, and I just don't get it. Our life, in my opinion, is a gift from God and we do not have the right to take it, let alone take others out with us. I have no idea why anyone would defend this guy for doing what he did. They can blame it on Steriods or whatever they want to, but he made a choice and he was wrong. I am sure, in my heart, where his wife and son are now, not so sure where he is though. This is my story, and I am sticking to it. Everyone, Take Care. GrandmaHippie

Compassion is one thing, but some people are making a martyr out of this man...and, undeservedly.
He killed his wife and child...and people are making memorial videos in his honor on YouTube. He strangled his wife with his bare hands, and smothered his son with his bare hands...and people are saying "poor Chris?"
I just don't understand it.
He killed his son second. Can you imagine what that child must have seen and/or heard while his father was killing his mother?
I also don't think he deserves pity for taking steroids. He took drugs voluntarily. The effects of steroids are well known, especially in the sports industry. Yet, he did it anyway. He doesn't deserve my pity for that.
As for him being mentally unbalanced, I submit that all murders are mentally unbalanced in one form or another.
As for "going off," can we really say both of these killings were in the heat of the moment? Choking someone is a slow process...in spite of what you see on television. So is smothering someone. They pass out well before death sets in. Normally, brain death from lack of oxygen begins to set in at about six minutes. At some point while watching two people die by your own hand, and continuing to choke/smother them after they have quit moving, you have to think that the thought would enter your head to stop and call for help.
Compassion? Maybe. But, I will save my sympathy for his wife, son, family, friends, and fans...he deserves none.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19468182/About the Wikipedia entry, “The guy who’s admitted to doing it said it was just a coincidence,” Wales said. “He said he was hearing rumors. I wonder where those rumors came from. I guess the police will figure that out eventually.”
