No, it missed us by about 40 yards, but the village was partially cut off for a couple of days. We were away on holiday until the Saturday, and weren't sure that we could get home. After a couple of detours we finally made it, about two hours later than we should have.

According to the Met Office, the reason for all the rain over the last couple of months is that the Jet Stream is too far south. At this time of the year it should be somewhere over Iceland. At the moment it is over Europe. The Jet Stream dictates the high/low weather systems. It pushes the lows North. If it is over mainland Europe, we get the lows and, subsequently, the rain. They have no idea why the Jet Stream is parked where it is. They say there is no evidence that Global Warming is to blame.
