Hello my fellow readers. I, personnally, am partial to the horror authors of today. Dean Koontz, Ann Rice, etc. But I'm curious about what others think about them and all other authors, specific books, series, etc. Anyway, this is just a place to post most anything on books I guess. Broad subject I suppose. By the way, I'll try to respond to everybody, but if for some reason you don't want me too, please, type something near the bottom of your response so I Know not to. Just covering all the bases. By the way, my e-mail address is Allassandra@aol.com if you want to say something to me. I love getting mail, feel free! Now please read whatever others have written and add your own. I don't care if you like or dislike them, just put something! I sound kind of desperate, huh? Anyway, thanks.

My favorite by Dean Koontz (I can't remember the name) but it is about the little children that were experimented on and the girl and boy had wings. Remember that one? I also liked the one where the child had been kept in the chamber most of her life. Can't remember the name of that one either. What was or is your favorite?

I read both of those Koontz books (was the second one "The Door To December"?), and most of his other books. I think with Koontz and Rice I like some of the earlier books better, and also prefer the non-horror books, such as Belinda by Rice, and Ice Bound, by Koontz. I think my favorite horror story read, is Stephen King's, Salems Lot. I still remember the first time reading it, and jumping at every little sound.

I've read most of Dean R Koontz's early work but have fell behind on his lastest books in the past two years. I also like Shaun Hutson, my favorite of his books is Assassins.
It was funny how I got into Dean's books...I first watched the film 'Watchers' and thought I'll read the book. Totally different but both good in their own way.

I at one time in my early years I liked to read Stephen King. I quit reading him about 5 or 6 years ago. I like his story line but I find his writing an insult to the intellect of his readers. He repeats him self so often that you would think that he figures his readers do not have the memory recall or are just plain stupid. I have picked up a few of his books to browse through lately and I realize that if I ignore all his repeated information I can read one of his books in about an hour and a half. He irritates me anymore. Sorry to all of you King fans.

When I was younger, I read alot of John Saul but he, too, got to be predictable. Later, I began to read more Clive Barker. His books are always rich and inventive. He always keeps me guessing and no two books I've read are in any way similar.

If you want to introduce your youngster (maybe 5th grade or so) to Clive Barker, I would HIGHLY recommend his book, "The Thief of Always." He wrote and illustrated this book and, though I read it in college, I LOVED it!

Never got in to King or Koontz though.

LindaK29, Thank you for the Clive Barker suggestion. I just bought her the Harry Potter 3 book series. It's the hottest thing with the kid here righ now. I enjoyed "Suffer The Childred" by John Saul. I haven't read anything by him in about 20 years. I am reading (in between other books) the Sue Graften murder series. I enjoy her because she writes about my area. It is easy to picture where she is and what she is doing. I have read all the Daniell Steele books and I am trying to get my oldest daughter to read them. She is predictable but her stories usually make me cry and I enjoy a good cry once in a while. The one she wrote about the Titanic was really good. I have a hard time remembering titles. I don't even think I spelled her name right. It's early here and the coffee is still brewing. An interesting story I would like to share with you is, my sisters mother-in-laws cousin was suppose to sail on the Titanic the day it went down. She had a touch of the flu and postponed the trip. Interesting huh? I thought so.

Just got a Dean Koontz book from the library yesterday "Fear nothing" havent started it yet though. I used to read a lot of
Stephen King and have to agree with Sandalwood. His books of recent years are all very much the same. I found Dean Koontz the same but it has been a while so I'll give him another go. Patricia Cornwall is another whose books were good but then I found them all becoming the same.

I really like Dean Koontz stories.I listen to a lot of them on audio tape at work.I
just read "Intensity",it was great. If you
are going to read "Fear Nothing" you should also read the sequel to it called
"Seize The Night",it explains a lot more of the first plot.A good pair of stories.

This was sort of an old post, but I'll add my two cents anyway. I very much enjoy all of Anne Rice's work. I'm drawn more to her Vampire Chronicles, But I've also enjoyed her many other books. Her Vampire series takes place mostly in New Orleans. Since that it where I grew up, I enjoy reading about landmarks and streets I know from childhood. Hats off to Anne Rice

Cindy that is the way I feel about Sue Graften, She writes about my area, so I read all her murder/P.I. books.
