Well... the new I-Phone by Apple just recently came out in the United States. It looks like a very advanced piece of technology, but is costs a small fortune. What are your opinions on this new device?

The screen looks awfully small. Since it is touch-screen controlled, that could be a problem for some people.

There were a significant number who bought it, but the price of the phone is only the beginning. There's also the monthly fee for the plan of about $100 from what I've heard. That's $1800 for the first year. For all it can do it's probably worth it, but I don't see myself needing all those features anytime soon. I may jump on the bandwagon once the price goes down, maybe a few years from now.

You are required to sign up for two years' worth of the plan, and if you are under another cell company's contract, you are stuck.

It's crazy all the hype over this ... in a short time there will be other companies with comaparable products and the prices will fall.

I think people should turn off these gadgets and get some silence every now and then.

I would much, much sooner spend $600 on Skittles than I would on a phone.

It looks like an interesting enough product. I totally would NOT under any circumstances pay 600 bucks for that. I know that it has a phone, internet, and ipod capabilities. But I have a phone, an iPod, and the internet. I don't need to be connected to the web at all times. I think we got by just fine before it came out, and we'll do just fine now if we don't have one.

I personally think if you need to be CONSTANTLY connected to the web, there is something wrong, and you should probably seek professional help.

I understand that jobs sometimes require a lot of you, but c'mon. It's a little overboard don't you think?

That's just my two cents. And I work for apple. Bah

Some folks are going nuts! The day they came out there were people in line since 6:00 a.m. One woman bought the right to be "first in line" from a man for $800. Yes, that's eight hundred US dollars. She was expecting to go into the store with her $100,000 and buy the store out. Only she found she was allowed to buy only one! Add the expenses together and she spent $1400 US to buy one phone!

I don't even like paying my monthly "low" bill for the phone I have now.

The filters on this computer won't let me look at the story but I think this is the one you're talking about, Jar? Hehe, serves her right.

That's the one Copago. Well Duh! Guess she didn't read the rules beforehand. And you are absolutely right -- she deserved what she got. Who's going to use that many phones? I think it would be only someone who would re-sell them at a greater price. We call that scalping!

Edited to add: I just watched the item you linked to Copago, and she said she was going to sell them for double price on Ebay! Hmmm, wonder if some of our "Ebayers" would go for that?

Turns out that story happened here in Dallas. I've actually driven by the store that it happened at.

The stories themselves are interesting Dave. The Boston My Fox station says she brought $100,000, and the D/FW (Dallas/Fort Worth) My Fox states she only had $16,000. On top of that, the first stories I heard on the news locally all stated $100,000. Guess we can't all believe what we hear or see on the news!

From what I heard, the cheapest plan for the phones was USD $69.99.

People lined up for it like I lined up for a Wii after Christmas. My father said it really sucks and he's waiting for second generation (he supposed if there's second generation nanos, there's second generation iPhones). He might switch over to Verizon because they're coming out with an improved one I heard. Not worth my money, the only phone I need is one with a calendar, address book, internet connection, and camera. Your basic cell phone for today.
