That doesn't sound good.

There weren't any rings displayed, just the target butts with the cardboard attached, but yes, it did extend all the way from top to bottom, passing through the center.

After a while I stopped worrying about whether my sights were set right up and down (that was bad of me) and worrying more about the left and rightedness.

This week went pretty well. I got 6 gold at 20m with a final score of 264.

I got the 6 gold in the practice round but it still counts if someone witnesses it.

Huzzah!

I decided that since I got 6 gold last week, I could move up to 25m. I got 208, which is not as good as I would like, but I blame it on the fact that someone else used the club bow and arrows that I was using, and the one I used instead was a heavier draw weight. It was also quite windy.

I would really love to take up archery. I did it as a kid, but where I live now, there aren't that many archery ranges. Oh well. I will keep my fingers crossed for the future.

Good luck finding one, it would be great to have more archers on funtrivia, it seems like I am the only one, and I am talking to myself about my acheivements.

I had an interesting week this week.

We shot at 60cm target faces, and everyone shot at 15m.

I only got 172 though.

I shoot, but just at home. I don't measure out how far I shoot or anything...I just eye it.

I shoot a compound bow with a trigger release. I also deer hunt from a blind, which is my reason for knowing how to shoot.

So it's like hiding up in a tree and shooting bucks as they pass?

It looks interesting. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, that's basically it!

Also, in some areas (including mine) you can shoot a doe.

Ok. I think personally I wouldn't shoot a doe, but then again, I'd be so surprised that I might accidentally mistake it for a buck.

I never understood the hunting from a blind approach. Didnt seem like hunting at all. I'm more of the stalking inclination. Mind you we dont have deer here so I don't know how that would work. And I'm anti trigger release too, that just takes away a bit of what it is to fire a bow, don't like it at the Olympics either.
Still I haven't shot a bow in years in any case and each to their own. At least your out there havin a go with your bow.

Isn't the trigger release what the compound bows use?

I like recurve bows, but admittedly I've never tried compound or longbow.

The trigger release is a device used that connects to the string and allows the archer to hold a grip rather than the bowstring. Its quite popular, amongst hunters and target archers. I cant imagine it would be used with a longbow however.

Ok, I'm pretty sure that there is a compound bow shooter who uses one of them at my club.

oh, I forgot to add, I got a score of 175 at 25 metres.

Not bad but could've been a lot better.

Pfftt, last week's score seems great compared to this week's. I only gor 135. At 25 Metres as well.

It was not a good week for me.
