I went to the library today and couldn't believe what I found on the shelf!
The sequel to Silence of the Lambs: Hannibal!
I went to pick up something to read this weekend and thought I would get my name on the waiting list for Hannibal. And there it was!
My mom read it a couple weeks ago and said it was really scary! I'll let you know!

Hi shuttlebunny...

Everytime I'm in the bookstore, I take a look at that book, but always move on. I really liked the movie Silence of the Lambs. I'm fearing that Hannibal will be way too "out there", but I do have a morbid curiousity about the book. Please do post your reaction to it.

All the best.

I read this last year. I have to say it was a real let down. The story is virtually unbelievable and it is pure commercialisation.

It is a poor follow up to previous works and I can understand Jodie Foster not wanting to reprise her role as Clarissa Starling.

These are purely my views and would not ask anybody to not read it but there are better books out there.

Good reading.

Cheers PJ (on the beat)

I read "Hannibal" and "Silence of the Lambs" and am starting on Harris' first book, "Red Dragon." All three have Dr. Lecter and Mr. Crawford of the FBI. "Hannibal" really stretched the boundaries of credulity, but you have to hand it to Mr. Harris, he can really keep one's fingernails nibbled short.

So far, so good! I'm about 2/3 into it and I'm liking it!

pj: Yup, there are better books out there! It may be a bit unbelievable, but so is science fiction. I can't say that it's all that unbelievable though. I keep hearing Jodie Foster through Harris' words. Maybe it's because I just saw her again in accused?

I'll let you all know what I think when I finish.

Finished!

I have to say I liked the book all the way until the end. I don't want to spoil the ending for anybody wanting to read this. If you want the rest of my opinions scroll down farther! No peeking if you haven't read it yet!

I agree with Shuttlebunny. The ending left a lot to be desired.

The ending has been so well publicised in the UK, that it's a bit pointless even bothering to buy the book.

Re: Hannibal. I agree with most of the others. I was very disappointed. While "Silence of the Lambs" was excellent his best book if "Red Dragon". I agree that Jodie Foster was wise in refusing and I applaud her guts.
