I just finished reading this book and I am now hunting for the second book "Tis". I really enjoyed it. It is not the typical kind of book that I would normally read, but I just couldn't put it down. It was great.

I saw the advertisement last night on televison for the movie that they have made of it. I will go see it and HOPE that it follows the book. Might be tough though!!

Has anyone read this, or seen the movie yet??

Sandalwood, I just loved Angela's Ashes. I bought myself a copy a couple of years ago when it was new after hearing Frank McCourt tell in his own words on the radio the segment about him 'throwin up God in his backyard' and his Grandmother going to tell the priest off. The book is doing the rounds of my family and I haven't seen it for months.
I just got from the library the sequel Tis' and it is sitting on my husband's bedside table. I'm going to let him read it first.
I hope it answers what happened to his father. Did you get to be really mad with his ignorant father? I wanted to hit him!
The story in Tis' begins with him arriving in America.
I'll tell you how I enjoyed it when I finish reading it, without giving away any surprises of course.
But as for Angela's Ashes, one of the best books I have ever read and a great insight into the Irish sense of humour.

Sandalwood & Auschic,
I also loved Angela's Ashes. Frank Mccourt had quite a life! I ordered `Tis thru Barnes & Noble before it came out and have only gotten half thru it so far. It's equally funny and insightful as the original. I guess his brother Malachy wrote a book, I've been told it's not as well written. Mr. Mccourt writes with humor and a little boy's sadness that touched my heart. Hopefully I'll get some time to finish `Tis soon.

It is such a sad story to know that people really live like that! It has made me very thankful for my up bringing!!

This book is on my list! If I can get away from FT long enough to read it!

Wasn't this one of Oprah's selections?
