This book was written by Chris Bohjalian. It is an Oprah book club choice. My sister read it and absolutely loved it,so she passed it on to me. I can't say that I have the same thrill from reading the book as she has. I found it boring. He has also written a book called River Withches that I am going to read.

Has anyone read this book? What was your opinion? Loved it or did it bore you?

I'd actually be more interested in River Witches. What is is about?

Good Morning Silver Moonsong, I did not see your post yesterday. I made a mistake on the book name it is "Water Withches" and it is about dowser's. You know by using a dowsing rod. I hear it is pretty good. I hope to find it after I finish the book I am now reading.

Okay SM, sounds good to me. I don't think it has anything to do with witches. I think that is just what they call woman dowsers in the book.

My mom read Midwives, and she didn't think it was that good, which is why I didn't read it. She said something about the characters not being realistic or true to themselves or something.

Hi sand, has she read any of his other books? Ask her and let me know if there were any she would suggest reading!

"I have no great thoughts on the book. ...I saw it from a nurse's
perspective and found several problems that were hard for me to leave behind
and that interfered with my enjoyment of the story."

That's what my mom wrote via email. I don't think she's read any of his other books.

Thank you sand. That was really sweet of you to ask your mom for me. And also thank her for the answer she gave me!! I suppose I will just have to check out more of his books and find out myself huh?

My sister just started another one she found by him, she didn't tell me the name of the book, but said that she was having a hard time getting into it. Hmmmmmmm.

Hey caer, you picture is up!! You are a pretty girl. You are a red head like me I hear! The book, yes, is about A mid-wife. It is a story written by the daughter of a mid-wife actually. It is about a situation that happens to her, and the daughter writes a book about it. I don't want to say any more in case you want to read it. Actually, I would like you to read it, and give me your opinion on whether it held your attention or not. My sister still says she really loved that book and can't understand why I didn't.
