Hi was wondering if anyone has purchase any books over the net?
The two companies i have in mind are Amazon and Barnes and Noble?
I would love to buy some they seem so much cheaper than in the shops here.

And if any other people other than Americans have purchase any, the reason i ask this is, cause i am from Australia, just wanted to know how good they are about sending out of America?

Caer

Yes Caer, I have purchased several! Amazon.com has been wonderful. I would receive them within a few days. I was surprised actually. I went through Barnes and Noble and was not so impressed. It took several weeks for my order to be shipped to me. So, now when I order I go through Amazon.

I havent purchased books but I have purchased a cd from www.chaosmusic.com. and that was the first time I have brought anything over the net. They are based in Sydney and the cd that I got was about $15.00 cheaper than in the shops. It took about 1 month to arive as they had run out of stock and were waiting for more to come in
but they kept me updated with what was happening with it.

Thank you Sandalwood and minime,
The books are so much cheaper on the net,
I might do what someone said here, get a credit card just for buying things on the net.

Not to keep plugging them or anything, but Amazon is the best! I´ve ordered books and CDs from them and had them shipped to my P.O.Box here in Central America...no problems whatsoever, and talk about fast!

I've been ordering books from Barnes and Noble for a few months now and have only been suprised by one thing...how fast they get to me! I do have one order on hold right now, but they said up front that the book was to be ordered directly from the publisher and may take a while. They keep me updated on the status of the order.

Just make sure you've done your research and determined how much the book is at your local bookstore. A coworker almost bought a book from Amazon until she caught herself. She realized that, with the shipping, it was going to end up being twice what she could get it for in the store. Amazon is good, but their shipping and handling can be expensive - depending on what you're buying. Just make sure you're aware of that and are taking it into account.

Also, make sure you keep a record of when you placed the order, how long it's supposed to take to ship, etc. There have been some people not happy with Amazon. Overall, they're good, but they do have their glitches like any other company. They don't always keep you updated on the status. You need to make sure you stay on top of things and receive it when you expect it.
