It has been suggested (thank you damnsuicidalroos) that we could run photo threads that have themes. We're going to try this to see how it goes. Threads on different themes will be started in which people can post one photo per week relating to the current theme.

These threads will be in addition to Photo-a-Day. Just carry on posting one photo each day as normal there. This means that, once a week, two photos can optionally be displayed. One in Photo-a-Day and another in the weekly 'themed' thread. The themed threads will be named like this: ThemeName week. So we might have threads named, 'Flowers week' or 'Beach week' etc.

A new theme will be started each week-end. The old theme will not be locked until the following day in order allow for various World time zones. Whilst on that subject, this will also happen in future at the ends on months in the existing Photo-a-Day threads.

Weekly themes can be about anything within reason. Boats - Water - Churches - Beaches - Flowers - etc. Suggestions will be welcomed. Perhaps make suggestions in this thread rather than the ones containing photos. Damnsuicidalroos (or Roos for short ) has kindly offered to start a new theme each week. Let's see how the new threads go and hope they have the same success as Photo-a-Day. The weekly themes will begin soon.

Great idea - however, may I ask how long is the "window of opportunity" - is it 24 or 48 hours?

If it is only about 24 hours, can I suggest stretching it to 48 as not all of us are good with the time zone concept? It would be nice to know that one could post on either Saturday or Sunday. We could still have the 'one post' restriction but just give people a slightly longer time period to facilitate it.

Can you clarify something for me? Will the theme thread be open for the whole week (with an overlap each weekend), or just for the weekend?

If the latter, could I make a case for opening it for the whole week? Some themes might require an expedition (to a beach, for example) in order to take an appropriate photo, which would be much easier to do if we have the week in which to post.
