Well, I have started writing about 100 novels during my young life. The only written things I have ever completed are tons and tons of haikus and about 10 short stories, most of which are very absurd. I once showed my short stories to a friend of mine. She read them through, looked at me for a while and said that only a very very sick person can think of something like that. I took that as a compliment.

Right now I'm in the middle of two things I hope I will finish some day. One of them is a story of a made-up country that is about to collapse as the king has just died and the heir to the throne is a little child. I have written 9 chapters of it so far and I quite enjoy writing it.

The other story I am writing together with my penfriend. It's about a young man who likes solving mysteries. He's a seeker of truth, but he's having trouble with his inner self, which lives an entire life of its own. I like writing this story, too, but the problem is I'm writing it in English, which is not my native language. I hope my penfriend won't let me quit writing it.

Well Pia, I think you should be very proud of your written English! You put some native speakers(can you have native writers?) to shame. I am happy to hear you are writing and hope to see some of your published work some day!

A friend of mine just had her book published. She asked me to draw 3 diagrams for it. Hey! that makes me published in a round-about way. I don't know all the details. It was a small publishing firm and I think she had to back part of the funding.

If I were to write...hmmm, let's see. I would want to write a romance. That way I could have it the way I want it with no arguing back. lol I would also write a fantasy novel 'cause every once in a while I need to forget about the real world.

I've written 247 worksheet pages (not counting the answer keys) on the skills tested in the language portion of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. My principal paid to have three copies made (each page on regular paper AND another on acetate for overheads) so that all 8th grade teachers in my school could have a copy, and we're "beta testing" it this year. I also installed a copy on each teacher's computer so that pages can be displayed on the television or in Power Point. One of my colleagues took it to a meeting with her, and high school English teachers drooled over it. Once I retire and conflict of interest no longer applies, I'm going to submit it for possible adoption by the state. With only a very little tweaking, the material could work for the exit exams of several other states I've researched. I could be wealthy. lol

I put back (for distance) a fantasy novel that I intend to edit and revise by the end of this school year. Klippa started life as a unicorn, but her life became tragic when unicorn hunters, using a virgin as bait, lured her dam into a clearing and killed her. They cut off her magical horn and hooves and are draining her blood when they notice the tiny trembling foal in nearby bushes. Klippa is saved by a white mage, but since her horn and left forehoof have been cut off, she can only survive as an unmagical human being. The mage changes her and raises her. On her nineteenth birthday, she discovers that her horn and hoof have not been ground up to go into some witch's potion. And if she can recover them, she can return to the unicorn community, whose "voices" she has always heard in her head but was never capable of replying to.....

I was approached to write a Medical Terminology text book, which I did, and it has been published. I got paid peanuts for it - never again!

I am currently writing a Medical Transcription handbook. Riveting stuff - guaranteed to make the bestseller list (I don't think)!

Well, I've got one science fiction novel completely figured out in my head, and a romance/adventure novel too, but who knows when they'll become a reality.

In the meantime I've been writing a bit of fan fiction, (fanfics are stories based on the characters of a tv show, book, movie, etc.) I post my work on fanfiction.net under the penname Flumpermuffin. Try it if you've got time, it's fun and people will review your work

Well, to tell the truth, I love reading books. I'd love to write Harry Potter books and Enid Blyton books. To tell the truth, I've written the whole HP sixth book.

Wow! I am impressed--the whole 6th Harry Potter book!

Well, I guess I will write Professor Hawking's new book on time travel and clear up a few points he left fuzzy in his last one.

I wish I could write a truly magnificent murder mystery--like "Then There As None" but I lack one essential (two eseential) things: talent and more talent

When I was at school, English was my favourite subject, and I liked to write funny stories based on my own life. That was a long time ago, but maybe I should have another go- my chaotic dating history would be a good one to start with.

When I was a kid I used to write stories. Most of them were about talking animals or kids who solve mysteries (I read lots of Enid Blyton books... )
Actually I´ve thinking for a while if I should try writing something again (maybe first just for myself without getting it published).
What would I write...? Good question. Well either something like a sci-fi adventure story (basically a maturer outer space version of Enid Blyton ) or a children´s book.
Maybe I´ll give it a try, but at the moment I am still too scared...

Chris, there's nothing to be scared off. I think your idea of a mature Enid Blyton is excellent. Just believe in yourself and start writing. Just write about 2-3 pages everyday and you'll really enjoy it.

Thanks for the encouragement!
I just think that when you write something you always put a part of yourself into it, and so complete strangers will get to know your feelings, thoughts, etc. But I reckon if I do stick to something Enid Blyton-like I shouldn´t have to use too many deep intellectual thoughts...

JK Rowlings worked in a cafe until she convinced someone to publish her, in case anyone doesn't know she's now the richest woman in the UK, bar the queen (not sure about the queen). Write about it! For crying out loud, you all have a story to tell and the only one that thinks no one is interested is YOU! Write it and send it. The publishers that rejected Rowlings (and there are a few!) feel really proud to know that they passed up the goose that layed the golden egg.
No I am not a rich author. I have had a few published poems and even been paid for some. But, hey, your biggest critic is you. "It's not very good" is a poem published (and he was paid for it) by a friend of mine that tramped the country finding home grown poetry and publishing a book of it.

Take the plunge! Bare your soul! Publish and be damned! Give it a go! "NO" is the worst reply you'll get.

Oh, by the way, I would write about how the soldier isn't the bad guy, he's just a guy doing the job that he's been paid for. Although, I recently got paid for a poem about Pioneer Women.

cheers

I think I'd write about mystery. I love nancy drew, hardy boys and any other mystery books I can find, so I've had more experience with them I guess. I'd also like to write a fantasy novel like harry potter or artemis fowl, or maybe even a love/romance book with a deadly twist. You know, something like a jelous boyfriend who would stop at nothing to get his girl back. Even murder! ha ha ha! I like suspenseful novels too.
I've tried to write a few novels, but I get up to the 4th or 5th chapter and get bored with it.

Hi! It's me again. I just thought of something else.
I like the series 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' by Lemony Snicket because he includes his own views on the matters and personal feelings and emotions. His books are sort of mystery crossed with drama crossed with adventure crossed with humour. So, I think that I'd like to write a book like that. I enjoy murder mysteries, but older ones. Like sherlock holmes sort of style, but a tiny bit more modern in the vocabulary.
