The Yak Bak was like a recorder...you just record what people say and you could play it back but there were different kinds of settings so you could make them sound like an alien or a chipmunk..or make their voice really deep...just different stuff like that. I ALWAYS had my yak back and the Talk Boy was the same exact thing only there was a tape inside of it so you could actually record alot more and store it and like fast forward and rewind and stuff...I really loved both of them.

What about the girls only diaries and stuff, password journal and the like. They only opened with a password, and you could get room guards as well to keep younger siblings and parents out, they only opened to a certain size fingerprint or something.

I think the action figure toys like Pokemon, Power Rangers etc were specially designed to sell as many bits of plastic as possible. They designed the toys then made the TV show to sell them from!
My eldest two were tiny in the nineties and both liked Thomas the Tank Engine, then Power Rangers for the eldest and Pokemon for the next.
I think we had at least one stuffed example of every single one of the original 150 pokemon lol. At one time I could name them all and their evolutions...

I could name them all and their evolutions, but I only had a stuffed Pikachu and Togepi. I had 2 Pikachus actually.

I remember actually buying the Pokemon showbag from the Royal Adelaide Show.

Yeah Pokemon was awesome and I do remember those girl's diaries...my sister had one and I always tried to break into it but I could never guess her password. I remember that Dragon Ball Z was very popular, too and I had the action figures like Goku and Piccalo.

I don't think Yu-Gi-Oh was 90s. But I'm thinking that there was something else as well.

There was sailor moon and cardcaptors?

Again I'm pretty sure they were more early 00s though.

Sailor Moon was definitely the 90's because I remember watching when I was really little. Remember those little spiny dragon fly people...I don't remember what they were called but they were on this thing and you pulled a trigger and they spun off of it into the air...

Yeah! they were great. I used to stick mine to the roof!

Which reminds me, the playstation game "spyro" was pretty popular.

My nieces were just either getting into toys or branching into their teenage years in the 90's. I remember Polly Pockets and Furby toys very well. I remember that POGs (Pineapples Oranges and Grapefruits right?) was banned in their Junior school for some reason.

pogs were actually banned from my school as well for some reason...we still played them though. Tamagotchi's were popular...I remember Spyro! I used to play that game for hours! I remember for a brief time that yo-yo's came back and were really popular..especially the ones with ball bearings that would walk the dog for a long time.

I know Pogs were banned from some schools around here because they were being used to gamble somehow.

Kids always find something to gamble with. When I was in high school, pitching pennies was the craze, and you could get detention for it.

Anyone remember those Devil stick things, where you had to like do tricks with a big stick while holding two other sticks or something like that? Everyone at my school had them, anyway.

I remember those...All I could ever do with them is throw the big stick way up in the air and then fling it at other peoples heads..

I was never good at that stuff

I remember that the Cabbage Patch Dolls were very popular but I don't know what decade they came out.

Er, if you read the very first post in this thread it tells you which decade they were in.

I think Cabbage Patch dolls were popular, but I never played with them.

My Little Pony and those Polly Pocket things that were like a little room in a container were pretty popular.

I just searched My Little Pony and they have been going for over twenty years which probably puts them more into 1980s. My daughter was born in 1977 and I know she was addicted to them and had them all from the first six which were available, then as each new one was issued I bought it for her. She also had various larger pieces of MLP equipment. There used to even be a television programme.

I think I was quite pleased when she grew out of them and I could give them all away.

Edited to correct my spelling, I had gone all 'American'
