Right Ladies and Gentlemen. Here is a thread where you can give your opinion of the last Harry Potter book. WARNING............There will of course be spoilers here. You cannot discuss a book without giving away some of the content. I will start by saying that I loved it. I laughed, I sobbed, I got white knuckles and I held my breath. I was not expecting the little one who died to affect me quite so badly.

I reckon the epilogue was to reassure children that they do live "happy ever after" - I think the deaths would be pretty upsetting to a youngster, I was sobbing myself. I laughed and cried and yelled and cheered - the bit where Kreacher leads the house elves into battle was just amazing I can't get over how GOOD this book is, I can hardly believe it's the same author who wrote the last two, this one is just brilliant. I liked the son being called Albus Severus too.

I was referring to the death of Dobby. Did anyone else sob their heart out at Harry digging a hole to bury him?

Sorry all I omitted to begin the title with the word SPOILERS. In that form, without the word at the beginning it might have been overlooked . I went into everyone's post and changed the title.

I was sad when poor little Dobby died too. With that ending it isn't impossible for further books so perhaps there will be one or more with his career mentioned.

I loved it. I was really sad about the death of some of the really good characters, such as Dobby, Lupin and Fred, but I was glad that Harry survived. I (call me a hopeless romantic) was also really glad that Hermione and Ron got together. It's been a long a time coming.

I was so happy that Snape was on Dumbledore's side and I think I probably bawled the most when Harry was in the Pensieve and we found out the extent of Snape's love for Lily. When Snape was dying and told Harry to look at him, he was looking into Lily's eyes.

Yes. That was a very touching moment. I always liked Snape, and just had a feeling that he would turn out to be a good guy. I'm really glad that he was!

JKR has said that she is definetely not going to be writing anymore about Harry Potter. Oh well. That was definetely the best book in the series, but it would have been nice to find out a little more.

I had Professor Snape down as a "bad guy" all through the series. I love "The Prince's Tale" chapter. It made so many things clearer. I sobbed my heart out at Dobby's death. Definately the saddest death in the book for me - but the way Harry dug his grave with no magic! I was a little disappointed with the Epilogue. I wanted more on the characters that weren't mentioned - but I was glad about Hermione/Ron and Ginny/Harry. But two words make the Epilogue perfect for me... Professor Longbottom . Neville's been my all time favourite character from the beginning of the series. And I was so glad he survived!

The thing that I would have liked to know is what happened to George Weasley, especially considering that Fred was killed. Somehow, I don't think George would have ever been the same. It just doesn't seem right that only one of the twins survived... the other one would never be whole again.
I too was distraught about Dobby. Dobby was always one of the most loyal characters throughout the series, and I didn't like that he had to die... mind you, I suppose he had to in order for Snape to remain "anonymous" until the end of the book.

Was anyone feeling disenchanted with Dumbledore? I was so afraid that he had misled Harry for awhile there.

Dobby was sad, so was Hedwig.
I hope there will be at least one more, having career details and maybe a little bit about how the little ones are doing in school.
I'm pretty sure she's done with HP. But the encyclopedia she's writing might have more details about careers and the like.
I loved the book. The epilogue was a bit too cheesy happy for me, but I forget that young kids read the series, too, and they needed to be uplifted from all the death.
Fred's death hit me the most.

I cheered when Kreacher arrived at the head of the House Elves, and again when Molly tackled Bellatrix - I think I might even go and watch the film when it comes out, just to see Julie Walters and Helena thingy go head to head - it was so exciting - the mother determined to protect the rest of her children, I loved it. And again when it was Neville who killed Nagini, I hoped all along he'd be in there somewhere. With the prophecy having originally been about either Harry or Neville it was appropriate somehow that he should be there in the end - I've always had a soft spot for Neville

She is finished with Harry, but a concordance would be nice. The online Harry Potter Lexicon is quite good, but I'd love to have a book that I could keep on my own shelf.
I have many thoughts about Book 7, but since people are talking about sad moments, I'll mention that I dissolved into a sodden mess when Snape died. I had expected his death, but it came suddenly, and he was one of my two favorite characters. (For some reason, I'm invariably drawn to the complex and difficult people no one else likes, and I'd been certain that he wasn't genuinely evil.) I was wiping away tears all through "The Prince's Tale."
I've seen much criticism of the epilogue, but I think its spareness allows readers to fill in the blanks as they please. Rowling has created a vastly imaginative world, and one of the pleasures -- for me, at least -- has been speculating on a variety of issues she doesn't specify. We don't need to be told everything at the end. Leaving a few things open to question is a more intriguing and sophisticated solution than tying up all the loose ends, and it's even something of a gift to readers. It lets them use their creativity and preferences to complete the tale. I appreciate that.

After book six, I was convinced that Dumbledore knew what he was doing and that Snape was in league with him. I was glad to see that I was right. I loved the entire series and this final book was the best. It has been fun taking this journey with Harry and his friends

I don't know why but the moment which got me was when Percy came through the mirror into hogwarts and joined his family in the battle.
I am another who thought the epilogue didn't need to be there or done better. It really did look like it was just tacked on.

I actually quite liked the epilogue... It cleared up a lot, I thought. I thought it was very moving, how Harry named his son after Dumbledore and Snape, and the other two children after his parents. If you just read the end of the last chapter, I don't think it would have seemed right ending there- not to me, anyway. It was good to see who got together with who, and what happened to some of the other characters, like Neville.
The only thing I would have liked to know is what ended up happening to George, when his twin, his best friend, had been killed... bit late now, though, eh?
