As I have said elsewhere in the forums, I have set myself the task of sorting out a little room which has become a 'glory hole' when it was intended as a sewing room.

So far I have found some items I thought had gone forever and some I had forgotten that I had.

Digital webcam dating from almost 10 years ago
Tape back-up from about 10 years ago
Five year diary dating from 1963!
Two marquetry kits - unused
A baby-nest I used for my daughter when she was a baby (she is almost 30 and pregnant)

It is quite exciting to find what is hiding.

Anyone else had a clear out and found long lost items?

Oh what a question Sue! I recently cleaned out my "utility room." Of course it is only used in a minor fashion for that now. Ever since I got into quilting it is more of a fabric and notions room!

I found a small basket of shells that I had been hunting for for over 5 years. I also wound up throwing away a large lawn and trash bag full of items I "had to have" and just simply were a waste of good money.

My problem is now that it is all cleaned up, labelled and is my "I can find anything" room, I cannot find the things I really need! I've been hunting for a specific quilting book for 2 days now.....

As a typical teenager, my floor is often hard to find with the mess on my floor. However, suffering from OCD, i sometimes find it hard to throw stuff away, and it tends to build in a pile in my wardrobe.

So, not long ago, whilst in the process of looking for Homework i knew i had completed, i decided to have a thorough cleanout!

Well, i must say, i was rather impressed with my findings. I found not only the Homework i was searching for, but also a major summative assignment, that was due in first term

I found a small fortune of money that i'd put away to save in what i thought was a good hiding spot! It must have been good, because i forgot about it

Then, my day got even better, when i managed to locate my reading glasses, a pair of which i'd lost almost 6 months ago! The funny thing was, is that i was about to go and purchase a new pair as i had lost the other ones

Last week I spent several days cleaning out the drawers of two file cabinets we have here in the computer room. I found tons of receipts and instruction manuals for items we haven't had for years! Also ran across some wonderful correspondence that I had stuck in there to save because of sentimental value. The treasure was a folder with a password written on it that my husband has needed for several months and I was unable to find!

My dad moved in with me earlier this year, and in the process of looking through boxes that he had stashed at his place, I found a box of stuff that belonged to me and my sister. In it I found a big ball of key chains that I used to collect. I almost kept them but decided that they would be best served in the garbage. They were old and very dusty from having been stored in outside sheds and barns for the past several years.

In 1994, the theatre arts teacher of almost 30 years at the high school I attended left the new teacher with such a mess. The city fire marshal gave the new teacher 30 days to clean the place up or the school's auditorium would be closed permanently. Between working during our class time (45 minutes a day) AND Saturdays, we were able to get it cleaned enough that the fire marshal allowed the auditorium to remain open. I haven't been in that auditorium since 1996, but I have a feeling that the backstage area still looks a lot better than it did in 1994! I don't know if the long-term theatre teacher knew that he had medicine bottles from 1973 in there.

We cleared the sideboard recently to make room for a fish tank. For years everything had been stuffed up there to keep it out of the reach of crawling babies, and we found over $30 (£15) in small change!
We also found 3 odd gloves, a train set, a book I thought was gone forever, 2 books belonging to my Dad that we've searched his house for for months, and the key to the back door we had before we got a new one 2 years ago.
We didn't find my CD though, I've been searching for it for three years soon, and so far it hasn't surfaced. We found the box but alas it was empty :-(
