If they pay by Feepal, oops PayPal you will get an email saying that the money has been transfered to your PayPal account. You will then be charged a fee for using the PayPal service for payment. Then it`s up to you where the money goes, though if you do transfer the funds to your normal bank account there will be a fee if you are transferring less than a certain amount,in Australia it`s $150.00. If the buyers have paid into your PayPal account in a currency that you don`t normally deal in,like anything other than you use in day to day transactions you will also find out that the PayPal exchange rate favours PayPal.

Hehe, welcome to the wonderful world of FeeBay Sue.

Fees to list item.
Fees if the item sells.
Fees to use PayPal(owned by eBay now).
Fees to transfer to your normal account if under a certain amount.
Fees to use PayPals currency exchange service.

Ah well, it is fun and so long as it doesn't actually COST me money I am happy.

I can't find how much they charge for BIN items, I could only see the price for selling phones or something - the charge was too high as the item wouldn't sell for that.

We just kept our money in our Paypal account, and used it for buying things.

And, yes, you pay fees. I live in a small, remote-ish place - there is no way on earth I could have sold the items that I sold through e-bay for anything like the money I got for them, if I had just stood by the side of the road with a 'for sale' sign. If I had decided not to use Paypal and went for cheques or money orders, I would have had to wait weeks while the cheques cleared, and many buyers wouldn't have bothered with my items, preferring to use Paypal. Don't mind paying for a service that gets me what I want.

How frustrating! I re-listed the unsold item only to find that a person who bought one of the other items has now bid on this one too!

The woman in the US is upset as she was too late to bid this morning on the item she wanted but is interested in future listings.

Oh boy, I see what you mean about the fees Roos. I have just received payment for two items and I actually made more on the cheaper item as the other had two photos instead of one.

I am going to have to calculate postage more efficiently as I hadn't taken into consideration the PayPal charge for that - so I lost on the postage with the heavier and more expensive item.

Still, as I was going to throw them all out this is better than nothing, and is still fun.

I have made a spreadsheet so I can see what is going on.

When people want to be paid by 'Pay pal' (and nothing else is advertised) and there is something I would like to buy from them-I always ask if they would accept a cheque(as I don't have a credit card-I get my cheques from my mum and give her the money).
From all the people I have asked of this only one refused as it was overseas. So if like me you prefer to pay by cheque all you can do is ask

Presumably you have to wait for the cheque to clear before you receive the goods.

From a sellers point of view it might be better not to pay the fees but by accepting money orders or cheques you need to give the buyer your name and address, by using PayPal you don't give out these details until the person has paid. There are some people out there to whom you wouldn't want to give your details.

Some do,some don't-it's up to the seller and I have a 100% feedback which might help

With the possibility that I may be wanting to sell something on ebay, I'm wondering if other countries have this? We have an Ebay "store" here. I've not been into it but I'm thinking they will sell stuff for one on Ebay, taking a percentage. Anyone else have such stores?

Looking at this page, they are in the USA, Canada, and Australia only. There are three in Canada and four (with two opening soon for a total of six) in Australia.

I just called my "local" Ebay store to find out what they charge. Certainly had my chuckle for the day. They don't "charge" anything. They research the product, see what they think it will sell for and then list it for seven days. When it sells, they keep 50% of the selling price. But the don't "charge" anything!

At the store in Plano, that location keeps 40%. They take pictures of the item and, as yours does, lists it for seven days.
