This is a new reality web series that iTunes and MTV are doing together. The show is also called "so you wanna be a movie intern"

basically a group of aspiring film makers are thrown in a house in Romania to live together and work on the set of a big time movie AND they get a REAL Hollywood Budget.

The show is is pretty comical but at the same time full of action! two shows have aired so far. def looking forward to more as well as the theatical release of the movie on October 5th.

Here are the links to check it out, subsribe, whatever

How does the title "the dark is rising" relate to a reality web series. Last I heard it was a book series being made into a movie.

susan cooper's the dark is rising, now a movie

if you've read the books like i have, you'd be looking forward to this movie too. the seeker - the dark is rising is a rather epicy-like story about will and his adventures. they actually have movie trailers and a sequence quest of sorts at http://www.seekthesigns.com where you can arrange the order of the signs in a sequence based on your internet prowess. i pride myself to be a good online researcher, but i have only got to 5 out of 7 sequences. the clues are hard to find but the videos and stuff that you get to unlock are awesome, and well worth it. it will be on cinemas nationwide on october 5; check it out ^_^

oh my! That trailer for the film looks AWFUL! I hate films made from books I love, they ALWAYS get it wrong and this one looks like it's no exception (sigh...)
I didn't know this was being made so maybe if I try very hard I can forget again.

Ever since The Lord of the Rings films were a success (and Harry Potter to an extent); studios have been quick to jump on the fantasy film bandwagon, but most ending in dismal results. I was so excited about the Eragon film but after seeing the trailers and reading about it I haven't even bothered to see it on DVD. An exception is the Narnia film, which was quite well made, and Bridge to Terabithia was excellent but that's not so much a fantasy film as it is a heartfelt story about friendship. I'm anxious about The Golden Compass, based on Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials and one of my favourite series'. The trailers hype it up so much, being from "New Line Cinema" and refers to LotR as well so time will tell.

I've only read the first novel of The Dark is Rising series so I don't think I'll be seeing the film anytime soon, even if it's good.

You're probably better off seeing the film without reading the books from the looks of it!
If I could "divorce" my brain and just view it as "a film about a boy called Will" it might be OK, it's the fact that they are mangling one of the best series plot lines ever I can't get my head round.
WHY do 'they' never seem to make a film that follows a book properly - films from books are just never as good as the books!(LOTR being the exception for me as I have never read the books - they bored me to tears)

True, that way I'll have no expectations. But I don't like doing that on books I'd really like to read because then I get the film's visuals stuck in my head and not my own. =\

I didn't recognise the trailer until it said the title, so that to me indicates that the movie wont be much like the books.
Having said that I have only read book 1.

I think stardust looks good, and if it isn't a book, someone should make it into one. it is just the kind of genre I absolutely love reading.

Ah, ok. I will go find it at my local library, after I've seen the move though. I don't want to spoil anything.
