The thing is, if you let your cat out during the day when you are at work/school, then it is hard to control where they go. Fences aren't very effective, because cats can climb and jump, and it is hard to keep a strict eye on the cat when you aren't even around.

Having said that, it wouldn't kill the cat to not be allowed outside, and it wouldn't kill the neighbours to move if they want to let their cat outside.

Well i have it all worked out, my friend Jarred went over there and was talking to them, because he actually picked the cats up and said that he was looking for an owner, so they were all happy that someone had given the cats back, they offered him tea and biscuits so he went inside and told them the story.

So my dad and the neighbours have an arrangement. They are going to take more control over the cats, and i have to start a course of injections once a month. I got my first one today, my friend Jarred was with me, and he was so embaressed. I was crying before i even got in there.

But we do have an agreement so it should all be alright now. They realise now how bad i really am allergic to cats, so they said if i get injections to lower my symptoms they will try and control the cats.

Oh and Lioness 33, your right the lead singer of MCR is scared of needles, which is another of many reasons why we would be perfect for each other. Except he is way worse off with the needle thing then i am. He refuses to even get a tattoo, see i have no problems with a tat, because it isnt going into the skin, whereas doctor's needles literally go into you.

Well thanks for the advice, i am now hoping this will all be OK!

Oh i forgot to mention with the needle, i realised i am OK with it more then normal if i look at the needle, rather then turn away, i think what scares me more then the needle is the fact you dont know when they are going to put it in. Because they never actually do it on three. So i actually looked at my arm this time, and i was still scared, but i wasnt frantic like i normally am.

I prefer not to look at it, and not to know when it is going in. If I know when it is going in, I tense up and it hurts more.

I used to just hate needles all together, but that's because i had this fear of it going in my skin.

For me, it helped watching, because when i was younger i was fine with needles until i needed my first blood test when i was about 12, and because i have vanishing veins it took them 6 jabs to get a drop of blood. And the lady doing it really hurt, and from then i was scared of needles, i would have been fine had she not said- i will do it on 3..1,2..Jab' from then i was scared.

I am glad i found a way to contain my phobia though, because i dont want to suffer from the neighbours cats anymore.

Yeah. I have been scared ever since I was a little baby. When my sisters went in to get their first immunisation, I cried until they came out.

I have never had a blood test and I would be terrified if I had to get one, because my friend told me a story where he couldn't find his vein, and had to dig around a bit to find it.

Happy for you that you've been able to reach a compromise. And good luck with the injections, hope they work.

I hope they work as well, because i really still dont want to get them.

Well it has been 24 hours since Jarred spoke to them basically, and i havent seen either cat since.

So far so good.

Thanks again guys, you have all been great!

And thanks for getting us back on topic Copago, it was getting a bit sidetracked there for a bit.

Good for you for facing your fear - it's hard to do, but worth it.

That was very good of Jared to help you out like that. I wish you continued good success of being cat free and be sure you always take your shots.

And another off topic here: I was afraid of shots also until I watched the needle. Seems like I was anticipating the poke too much, but now that I watch, I'm over the fear of needles and I watch them even put the big needle in when I give blood regularly.

Anyway, congratulations.

And MCR, another good way of overcoming that fear is to get a lot of shots!
I'm not trying to be funny, it's just that being frequently exposed to something like that, as you will be since you're getting monthly shots, really does desensitize you.
I was terrified of needles from the time I was 8, when I went to get my tonsils out and the girl drawing blood had an awful time finding my veins and jabbed me several times.
Then 10 or so years ago I started having some health problems which necessitated lots of blood tests. And then 5 years ago I got pregnant--more blood gone!
With all that sticking, it got to be old hat and it doesn't bother me at all now. Not everyone is completely 'cured' by exposure, but it may help you.
And just think how much less awful those little jabs are compared to the torture that a severe allergy brings!
Glad you got it all worked out.

I used to be absolutely petrified, but since I have started having more frequent immunisations, I have been getting better. I'm truly in it for the jellybeans.

In it for jellybeans. I wish they would give me jellybeans when i get my injections once a month.

It is good to know that it will help in the long run, and i dont have to do it for the rest of my life, i just have to get these injections once a month for year or so and then once every six months after that, then eventually once a year, and eventually i will only need it every 2 or 3 years. Looks like i will be used to needles after a while.

Thanks again for your help and support guys! I really appreciate it!

That sounds good, maybe you should bring your own jellybeans.

I dont think it has the same effect if i take my own jellybeans, i have it all worked out, i look at them jab it, so as not to sit and anticpate it going in, just like when i got my MCR tattoo, i watched him do it and i was cool with it.

I cant believe it took me so long to realise all i had to do was look at the needle, i mean when i got my wrist and tounge pierced i was petrified, but i looked as they did it and i was fine. But for some reason hyperdermic needles scare me.

Anything piercing my skin scares me. When I got my ears pierced I was in tears, most needles I get scare me to tears, and even if someone comes up to me with a compass (of the drawing variety) I cower.

Having said that, I still want to get my ears pierced again and when I'm a little older (and fitter) I want to get my bellybutton done.

The scariest piercing i got was my wrist, and it hurt, and it made me scared of needles again.

But having to get these cat injections once a month i am guessing i will be used to it, or i hope i will anyway.
