Capercaillie - in the 10 years I've known about them I met only one person who knows them and listens to their music. Sorry to admit I haven't heard of Flyleaf .

The Weekend Guitar Trio are a great Estonian jazz group who I doubt many people will have heard of.
Well worth hunting out.

There's a great Irish band I've seen once or twice called Siucra - Gaelic for "sugar", and they do have a sweet sound. Very nice ensemble, but they only play together sporadically anymore.

YES The Dead Milkmen are awesome! I love that band!
I have many that nobody has heard of. One of my favorite bands is Bracket and nobody knows of them.

Bracket? "Talk Show" is one of my favorite songs and I have some of their Caroline and Fat Wreck Chords stuff. Good little melodic band!

I have no idea where to start here. I currently think that Bat For Lashes might be the love of my life. Natasha Khan's sub-Björk singing is really doing it for me. Sing-Sing are also brilliant, and contain one of the former members of Lush, who I also loved... Then there's The Knife, Husky Rescue... but Bat for Lashes first today, I think!

I love 'The Men They Couldn't Hang,' and hardly anybody I know ever seems to have heard of them.

I've heard of Trivium and Alter Bridge- they're actually really good. So you're no longer alone A-Teens are actually fairly well known here in S Africa- one of my favourite songs is their collaboration with Alice Coopers for "School's Out." The rest of you, you're right. I've never heard of any of those bands!

I really like 3 Days Grace. They may not be so obscure over here because I have downloaded some of their music on my iPod. And goodness knows, I don't know of any obscure bands. edited for spelling

Trivium *plays* exceptionally well. I betray myself as an old fart when I say that I just can't take their vocals.

FlyLeaf is one of my FAVORITE bands, so you are so not alone there. I've seen them twice in the last 12 months, and the live show is almost as good at the album.
Trivium, AlterBridge, and 3 Days Grace are pretty popular in my area.
I love a band called HURT, and Evans Blue, any one heard of either of those bands?

I like Evans Blue pretty well.
A band that nobody seems to know about in the U.S. is Coheed and Cambria. Some people that know about them (mostly from me) don't like them because of the singer's voice, (it's pretty high-pitched) but some others like his style of singing (me included).

I Freaking LOVE Coheed and Cambria. I have a friend that is naming her little girl Cambria Jade in honor of the band. They pretty much rock my face off.

I personally like a local band called Paradigm Shift (but they re-named themselves Par-a-dime Shift because no-one could pronounce the name.) They are combo of screamer rock and christian rock.
Also there is the band Hill Valley Preservation Society. They do modern techno-y covers of 80's songs, tv themes and video game music.
