Whatever makes you happy, is my theory.

Cubby and I aren't married (long story there) - I keep telling him I want to get married by Elvis in Vegas. He says that's tacky. This from a man whose idea of art is dogs playing poker.....

Yep - you're right. The reason we're not married is because the wedding ended up being all about him! I couldn't do it AND keep my dignity!

Whoops, I just realised that I'd heard the song originally referred to my MCR before. It's a good song, but not really wedding material.

I assume you are trying to make an impression. The question is- is it a good or bad impression? If you are looking to make a good impression, that song isn't it! If you are looking to make a bad impression, perhaps to embarrass your father and family - then it's your decision. Oh wait a minute - are you paying for the wedding or is your father? You are actually trying to get someone to agree with you that that song is appropriate? Good luck!

I can't believe that I just wasted time in answering that question! Oh well!
Must have been a momentary loss of consciousness or good sense.

Your wedding will be anything but boring and traditional...even if you do the "boring and traditional." It is a day that you will remember forever, and it is your wedding to heck with what everyone else thinks or wants. But, remember this it is about the marriage and not so much the wedding.

Gotta mention this one - seems to me to be the best wedding song, even though I didn't use it myself (didn't think of it in time...)

At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song

Ooh At last
the skies above are blue
well my heart was wrapped up in clover
the night I looked at you

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I
could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

ooo yea
you are mine
you are mine
at last
at last
at last
at last

I guess I'm just a softy then, because I always thought 'In a Country Churchyard' would be a good song...

In a country churchyard there’s a preacher with his people
Gathered all around to join a man and woman,
Spring is here and turtle doves are singing from the steeple,
Bees are in the flowers, growing in the graveyard,
And over the hill, where the river meets the mill,
A lovely girl is coming down
To give her hand upon her wedding day.

Dressed in simple white and wearing flowers in her hair,
Music as she walks slowly to the altar,
And picking up his Bible then the preacher turns towards her,
"will you take this man to be your wedded husband,
To honour and love in the eyes of God above,
Now let the peoble sing with me
These words to live forever in your heart...

Let your love shine on
For we are the stars in the sky,
Let your love shine strong
Until the day you fly away"

Many years have fallen on that golden country morning,
The graveyard’s overgrown, the church lies in ruins,
Ivy on the walls and ravens wheeling round above me
As I made my way towards the last remaining headstone,
I fell to my knees, read the lines beneath the leaves,
And suddenly it seemed to me
I heard the words like singing in the trees...

Let your love shine on
For we are the stars in the sky,
Let your love shine strong
Until the day you fly...
Let your love shine on
For we are the stars in the sky,
Let your love shine strong
Until the day you fly...
Fly away...

Mind you, I do know someone who had that and is now divorced, so what do I know? LOL
