I have had many almost "religious" experiences from listening to an album the first time...a few I can think of off of the top of my head are Nevermind, The Blue Album, Bracket- Requiem, and Abbey Road, there have been many many more but these are the ones that stand out most to me. Has anyone else felt this way about a particular album or am I just a weirdo?

I feel that way, you are not a weirdo.
MCR's first album 'Bullets' didnt so much change my life, it was more of a case of, i felt like someone was connecting with me. I listened to every song the day i bought it, i actually stumbled across it on accident, as it was the first album and nobody knew who they were. Then when "Three Cheers' came out it changed my life, the songs mean so much too me, it was during a time in my life when everything was messed up, and i was angry at the world, that album calmed me down and helped me think of other things, and no that there are people connecting with me, i mean i dont even know MCR, but when that album came out i felt as though we were on the same level and that we had all been best friends for ever. Then of course they bought out 'The Black Parade', which was the one that commericalised them, and i could finally talk to people that knew who they were, again it is another album that seemed to mean so much to me, and it actually helped me put my life back into place fully. I am deeply anticipating the next album, i am sure it will be as good, if not better, and more deep and meaningful (to me anyway) then the previous 3.
Ok now i sound like a weirdo as well right?

Not at all...I'm about that obsessed with all of the Nirvana albums and could say ALL of them changed my life but it was Nevermind that I heard first when I was about 4 or 5 and that album was what made me realize I wanted to be a musician.

Well i had alot of albums when i was younger, but they never meant anything to me, i was 13 when i found 'Bullets' and like i said, i am obsessed with MCR, i am so glad i found that and dad bought it for me, even though i had NO idead who they were.

When i think about there was one other album i got when i was really young, 'Nimrod' by Greenday, and it meant the world to me at the time, but it wore off when they became huge, it didnt feel as though it was for me, where as MCR does, even though they are HUGE now, because of the previous 2 albums i felt like they were writing songs for me.

And just like you, the 'Bullets' album was the one that got me doing guitar lessons and performing in front of my school, which i was too scared to do before that. Now i am really good at my electric guitar and i teach kids how to play as well, i have my own independant guitar lessons with people, so MCR lead me to do all that.

Wow i thought i was the only person in the world that felt so strongly about an album or band.

Good Topic as well, i am looking forward to hearing that other people say.

That's awesome! Yeah I got "Dookie" by Green Day when I was...well it was my first C.D. and I'm 20 now so you can imagine how young I was...I don't really remember...but that album also played a pivital role in the musician I am today...oh and I still love Green Day...sure American Idiot wasn't all that great but there were still some okay songs on it, and they've just had so many awesome albums in the past. I saw them live like 2 years ago and it was awesome!

Yeah i still have a special spot for Greenday as well, i saw them live as well, and i cried when they played 'Time of your life' it was more emotional for me live then it ever was on the CD.

The American Idiot CD turned me off them a bit, i did go to the American Idiot tour though, it was awesome, they were awesome live. I saw them with Simple Plan as well, and that was cool, i saw them again at the Big Day Out with MCR, and that was awesome.

Do you find that songs/bands/singers are even more, whats the word we can use?, um, inspirational or life changing live? Because i do, i mean, MCR was awesome live in 2004, i cried through the entire concert. Then i cried when i saw MCR and Greenday at the BDO. I am positive i will cry again when i got the Black Parade tour in November.

Thats when i know a band was an inspiration for me, when i cry or when i listen to a song deeply, not just listen to the beat like alot of my friends do.

Well it is good to know there are other people out there that feel as stronly about music as i do.

Ummm...as far as "inspirational" live...I would say that yes, I agree that Green Day was inspirational..after seeing them I wanted to go write more songs and book more shows and such.

I saw Marilyn Manson live and that was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I've never cried at seeing someone live..although when I saw Black Sabbath live I came very close.

I dont think i would cry if i was a guy, but i guess i can get away with it.

I was going to go and see Marilyn Manson this October, but i am over him, infact he got me really angry not to long ago, although i would probably still enjoy the concert.

MAN! You saw Black Sabbath, i really wish i lived in the States now, they get so many more concerts then we do.

How did Marily Manson make you mad? I saw him for my 16th birthday so that was 4 years ago.

I saw Sabbath 3 years ago at Ozzfest. It was almost like a religious experience.

WOW! You are so lucky!
Thats it, i am moving to the States, so i can see the bands i want to see more often, considering the one's i like arent to famous over here.

Marilyn Manson has a new song that has lyrics in it about Gerard from MCR, something about beating Gerard up or killing him or something like that. I was [censored] about that, and ended up putting my Manson Cd's on the bottom of the rack. I am too obsessed with MCR!

My brother wants me to plug that Iron Maiden is his ultimate album that changed his life, even though he wont listen to that music anymore!

Wow...I haven't even heard Manson's new stuff yet.

Iron Maiden, hm? I'm not a huge fan but I do respect them immensely...they're very talented.

Yeah same here, i respect Maiden, but i dont love them, they didnt change me in anyway.

He also wants me to add the smashing pumkins as well.

I havent actually heard it myself, but i have read the lyrics, and i read a Manson interview where he was saying stuff about how he wishes he could knock Gerard out or kill him for copying Mansons make up.

I was angry after that.

I love that album as well, but it didnt inspire me in anyway, MCR are pretty much the only band that has done that.

Now i am angry again thinking about what Manson said. Grrrr!

hahaha I like MCR alot but I don't get mad when people make fun of them...I don't get mad when people make fun of any band really, it's just their opinion. Even if it's like my favorite band in the world...just because I know I make fun of alot of music.

I've heard of The The but I don't think I've ever listened to them. I'll have to do that...I can tell by their name that I'll probably like them.

MCRismyLIFE, if you haven't realized Mansons humor or cannot accept it, maybe you should skip the show. Too bad though, I've been to more MM shows that I can count, and they never disappoint! As far as the question is concerned, Jane's Addiction changed my life, or at least my outlook on music. Also, been to see Tori Amos five times now, and never made it through with a dry cheek. She is haunting to behold....like a fairy on acid, or something. Amazing.
