I found a really nice-looking font that I'd like to add to my computer's font selection. It came in a file that I saved into Shared Documents. What do I do with it now - how do I get my computer to recognize and use it? (I'm sorry if it's a dumb question; I'm still learning....)

Simply move that file to the

DriveLetter:/Windows/Fonts folder

That'll do it. Just to make you aware of another way:

Go to the folder cae_16682 has given (usually C:\Windows\Fonts).
Go to the File Menu.
Click on 'Install New Font..'
Use the dialogue box that opens to browse to where the font is located.
Double-click on the font, or select it and click OK. The font will be added to the fonts folder.

How long before someone no longer feels like a novice on this contraption, anyway?

There's loads that still goes over my head, even after 10 years . It's a deep subject in its entirety. A year or so might see you being able to answer some questions for others.

I have been on computers for around 3 years now, after playing consoles but I have only been interested in the technical side of computers for 2 years and recently building my own computer has really helped but I know I will never know everything because there are so many different things that can happen/go wrong with computers . By the way a useful font site is www.dafont.com (that may be what you used)

Bionic4ever, there are really inexpensive software programs out there. I got one with 500 fonts for about $9.95. However, they did take up a lot of room but I simply installed the ones I wanted to use. But with the huge computers now, that's amost negligible.

Thanks - will look into that, too. (Although I have a slightly older computer, so not as large.) Sounds cool!
