Do you really think the world will actually end on December 21, 2012? I ponder and wonder whether the Ancient Myans are right or wrong. I mean, it could really happen, but that only five years and
100 something days away. Then the present Myans say a big change will happen on that day. I've done some researching, but it's pointing me in both directions. It's time to hear what other's think, not scientists and researchers.

I've never heard of that, but now I'm going to start looking into it. I love doomsday conspiracies.

Here's a bunch of information on this, for those unfamiliar with the whole notion (which I certainly was). Interesting, indeed - but I'm not sure that I [personally] assign it any significant weight.

But, then, I'd have been one of those not-so-bright travellers who might have said, "Bumped something? Oh, I'm sure it's nothing..." aboard the Titanic .

Heh heh...I've been hearing about this one for a long time - years, in fact. The first place I heard about it was on one of those old Sci Fi docs narrated by Leonard Nemoy, back in the 1990's. Just the kind of thing I love to watch late at night.

I hope it's not 2012. I will have barely had any time to live a life after teen years.

Doomsday things kinda scare me, because I fret wondering if they are real or not.

Though seeing how Global Warming is going, it wouldn't surprise me.

I did this thing on the internet once where you answer a bunch of questions, then you can download this countdown clock about when you're going to die. I still have it running, in 2068 I'll be dead according to it. A bit morbid. Come do think of it, it sorta is scary. Only another four Christmases to go and five Hannakus (sorry about the spelling, I'm doing this in a library and there's a line). Anyhow, I guess it wouldn't be surprising because Globa Warming has really messed up the Earth.

If I remember correctly, the Native American predictions mainly concern the end of one age, and the begining of another.
I reckon it'll be something like a breakdown in technology, probably due to shortages in elecricity supply.
A complete breakdown and we're back in the Dark Ages!
Humans have survived Global Warming, and Global Freezing, for hundreds of thousands of years. How did they manage?
Well they didn't have governments running things for a start!
Through co-operation, thinking for themselves, and using common sense, they made it.

In my opinion, we haven't gotten through global warming yet. If we did, then Al Gore wouldn't have one an Oscar. Anyhow, that's quite true. We could have some breakdown in technology or something, but then that would ruin Christmas wouldn't it. Anyway, thanks to all of you for your input.

I don't believe it. No human being knows when the end of the world will come. I am a Christian and the Bible states that no man will know the hour or time of when the earth is going to end. I think it's just a bunch of hoobla.

That's quite true. No real scientific knowledge has actually gone into proving this.

I think one website I looked at said something about sunspots being more powerful or two coming together on that day. I don't know how they can predict so far in advance though.

I'd rather not believe it, but it is now haunting my mind.

I heard some people say that the world would end on June 6, 2006.

We're still here, right?

I would rather not predict when the world will end. I don't think I could handle knowing.

I don't think the world will ever end. It will go on and on forever.

It can't possibly go on forever, not the way we're treating it, and the fact that when the sun dies, we will die. I believe that the planet will. That should be another billion years though.

Nope. On the premise of that theory, you're basically saying that the world is slowly going to die, starting somewhere near New Zealand. While it's December 21st in the USA, it'll already be December 22nd in Aus and NZ. There was also a panic round about the time of the millenium, but I really don't think anyone knows.

Joseph Smith of Mormon fame prophesied the world would end in 1832.
Our friends the Jehovahs Witnesses stated 1914.

I have heard and read for a few years now
about 2012. I have also heard of 2016.

Do I think its going to be the end? Well
it is something to ponder. Don't want it
to be the end. But if you really look
at the world today- the conflicts, global
warming.etc I do think something major is going to happen sometime between 2012 and
2016- something that will change the
world as we know it.

I have a friend of mine that believes the world is going to end in the next fifty or so years. He is basing that belief on an interesting mix of things he hears on the radio and programs he watches on t.v,none of it at all scientific but more fanciful speculation. I get a little sick of hearing this down to earth and normally sensible bloke saying that the world is going to end and I think to myself that yes mate the world is going to probably end for you in less than ten years as you are fairly old!

Here is a somewhat amusing site about various manners in which the Earth may be destroyed. I was recently unable to get full value of that particular page using Firefox btw so I viewed it using I.E(horror).

...well, I think The Mayans prediction and the Atlantis Myth are linked in the same balance...the destruction of the supposedly first civilization happened at a surprise...maybe It has something to do with The Earth Crustal Displacement or something...but, I'm not scared though...I welcome "Ragnarok" with open arms...and smiles...Gem...:P...*^(O)^*

Isn't RAGNAROK supposed to be the End of the World and Doom of the Gods in Norse mythology?
