Merv Griffen has recently died at 82 of prostate cancer. For many years he hosted his own variety talk show, but is best known for the classic game show "Jeopardy!" He was a singer-bandleader in the Big Band era.

I read that in our local paper, and was surprised that Marlo Thomas wasn't listed among the "survived by" family members...They were married for years. Any ideas?
Merv seemed to be such a genuinely nice man, he'll be missed.

Marlo Thomas was (is?) married to that 'other' talk show guy, Phil Donahue. I don't think she was ever Mrs. Griffin...

As far as I know, Gats, they are indeed married. Merv and his wife divorced, and he wasn't married to anyone else. She was actually the one who created the idea behind "Jeopardy!"

Well, doesn't that just figure? It still doesn't seem right, Phil Donahue? Are we sure? Marlo Griffin sounds better! No mention on Wikki either, hmm...

I am sorry to report that indeed Marlo Thomas is married to Phil Donahue and has been for more than 20yrs.They met on his TV show and it was love at first sight for them both they have said in interviews.

As for Merv Griffin he never remarried but he was seeing a lot of Eva Gabor before she passed away.
He was a great Talk show host and I use to throughly enjoy his afternoon show.He was a briliant business man and I am sure he will be missed by his family and friends.

It is sad,to mourn a person who shared entertainment with a lot of people; I enjoyed various game shows, and Merv created quite a lot of them! My favorites are Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
