The Beatles- best band there ever was
Elvis Costello- Love his voice..very good songwriter
KoRn- good live. Not so big on their most recent works but I love their old stuff
My Chemical Romance- They're pretty good..not a huge fan or anything but I have their first 2 albums.
Nirvana- Probably my favorite band of all time...the band that inspired me to be a musician
Queen- just awesome. Hate the new singer, though. Freddie was the best
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Their albums are pretty hit or miss for me but most of them are a hit.
Smashing Pumpkins- haven't heard their new stuff but LOVE their old. "1979" is probably one of my favorite songs EVER.
The Strokes- haven't heard much but I like what I hear
System of a Down- Absolutely amazing. Serj and Darron's harmonizing is just superb.
The White Stripes- Jack White is an absolute genius! I love the White Stripes, oh, so much.
Hope that was opinionated enough for you.

The Beatles - My favorite band. The best there ever was. Elvis Costello - Good songwriter, but not a huge fan Korn - The guy has a very unique voice. Catchy stuff. My Chemical Romance - Probably the best of the "emo" bands. I have two of their albums and enjoy both. Nirvana - I used to be a huge fan, but after listening to their songs a lot, they all sound the same ... Queen - What's there to say? Brilliant. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Definitely a fun band. Kind of difficult to take serious sometimes. Smashing Pumpkins - Definitely have some good stuff, but I think some is very off. The Strokes - Don't know a lot about them. System of a Down - I'm actually listening to "Holy Mts." right now! A great band, definitely. Very, very unique. The White Stripes - I only have their new "Icky Thump" CD and there are some damn good songs on there! Catchy stuff. May I ask why you want these opinions? Just curious, was glad to. EDIT: lol I just saw I basically have the same answer for the Beatles as the previous posters.

The Beatles--Laid down the foundations for music as we know it, I respect them for that. I actually don't love most of their stuff though. Elvis Costello--Absolute genius. Radio Sweetheart is amazing. Korn--Entertaining, not my favorite though. Do enjoy the new album. My Chemical Romance--Absolute fecal matter. One of the worst 'emo' bands. Nirvana--An amazing grunge rock band. How can you not love Nirvana? Queen--Not the biggest fan, but respect them musically. Red Hot Chili Peppers--For some reason I really dislike them, can't exactly say why. Smashing Pumpkins--No opinion. The Strokes--Great band. System of a Down--Eh, hit or miss. Mostly miss. The White Stripes--Fantastic band.

The Beatles - Hit makers extraordinaire, but hardly one of my favourite. I accept their brilliance, though.
Elvis Costello - I can take him or leave him, but I don't find him offensive.
Korn - erm, I really don't think they should be put in the same category as The Beatles.
My Chemical Romance - Helena was alright. The rest was radio-friendly pseudo-kiddie-pap-rock.
Nirvana - horrendously overrated. I'm hiding from the barrage of rotten fruit as I fill in the rest of this.
Queen - they were the best, weren't they? Great voice, great riffs. Great rock all in all, and I could listen to them all day.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - hit and miss. Like their rock, hate their funk. And Anthony Keidis is rather odd looking.
Smashing Pumpkins - I love them, especially "Tonight Tonight" and "Mayonnaise" - but Billy Corgan looks like a knee.
The Strokes - who?
System of a Down - again, who? Are they the ones that scream into a microphone that we don't know about the pain in their lives?
The White Stripes - are perennially good, but I don't own any of their work. Not too shabby.

System of a Down aren't the ones that scream into a microphone that we don't know about there lives at all...infact, they don't really scream about much of anything, they just sing...with amazing harmony.

The Beatles - Not a favourite of mine, but still, they're the beatles. What else is there to say? Elvis Costello - Haven't heard much, but what I have heard I've liked. Korn - Loved them for a little while, haven't listened to them in five years. Which says everything about my current opinion of them I think. My Chemical Romance - Rubbish Nirvana - Ok. That's it. Queen - Eh. I like the occasional song of theirs, but more in a guilty pleasure sort of way. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Again I like the odd song ('Suck My Kiss' comes to mind!) I definitely wouldn't say I'm into them though. Smashing Pumpkins - No real opinion. They don't do a lot for me. The Strokes - As above System of a Down - Don't like. The White Stripes - Just not into them.

The Beatles - What can I say that hasn't already been said? Brilliant.
Elvis Costello - My favorite songwriter of all time. They don't get any better than him.
Korn - Cool when I was 14, not so much anymore.
My Chemical Romance - Good live band. Their records, however, bore me to tears.
Nirvana - I feel the same way about this band as I do the Beatles.
Queen - BIIIIICYCLE! BIIIIICYCLE! They rule.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - I like one song. I hate all the others.
Smashing Pumpkins - See Korn.
The Strokes - I liked theif first record. Never heard anything else.
System of a Down - The novelty's worn off.
The White Stripes - Good God, so overrated.

The Beatles - competent, energetic musicians who blended the sweet sound of the vocal groups with the more masculine guitar sound of people like Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly, then had a LOT of fun in the studio. Got paid well.
Elvis Costello - very solid songwriter as a young man; did not age well
Korn - good exemplar of hard rock for their era; creative young men not scared to take chances
My Chemical Romance - pretty creative bunch; not afraid to blend styles, good music there; rock grows up for this generation, I think. We could do a lot worse.
Nirvana - also very creative, good music, but I can never forgive them for taking rock music away from the virtuoso direction it was heading. Just wasn't meant to be, I guess. RIP.
Queen - sometimes a little too showbiz for my tastes; best when they kept it simple. Brian May is the most underrated guitarist in the history of rock music - never a wrong note.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - lack subtlety at times, but always energetic, and Flea can bloody well PLAY!
Smashing Pumpkins - got very cliched very fast
The Strokes - never captured my imagination
System of a Down - they rock pretty hard, and just don't care about anything else. From a visceral level, I can respect that.
The White Stripes - likable; can take them or leave them. A little creepy sometimes.

The Beatles - my hubby is a big fan, me not so much. I love Eleanor Rigby sung by Joan Baez, and I like Working Class Hero but other than that they just aren't my 'thing' Elvis Costello - he's Ok, a tad depressing, I like Oliver's Army. Korn - so so, the video for Freak on a Leash was good. My Chemical Romance - they have grown on me to the point where I'm off to see them live in November Nirvana - I like them, but not to obsession, Dave Grohl is just brilliant, why no-one has given him his own show is a mystery to me, the man is a comic genius Queen - what's not to like? I couldn't listen to them all day long but they're good. Red Hot Chili Peppers - I bought Blood Sugar Sex Magic and was bitterly disappointed. Even All Saints version of Under the Bridge was better, AND it had a better video! Smashing Pumpkins - never heard anything by them The Strokes - I have a feeling these are one of the bands I switch over when they come on Kerrang TV System of a Down - they are growing on me slowly. The White Stripes - see the Strokes above

The Beatles- best and most influential band of all time
Elvis Costello -excellent singer/songwriter though I prefer his early material
Korn -their first album was interesting but I lost interest soon afterwards, and must admit haven't heard them in ages
My Chemical Romance -enjoyed what I heard from their last album, which is the only material I've heard from them
Nirvana -never cared for them, only liked a couple of their songs.
Queen -their hits are mostly what I'm familiar with and I do enjoy most of them
Red Hot Chili Peppers -enjoy most of their music, especially the "By the Way" album. Plenty of life in them yet (I hope).
Smashing Pumpkins -not a big fan, but they have released some very nice stuff. I do like James Iha's solo material.
The Strokes -I loved their first album. The follow-up was pretty good but the 3rd release- as well as Hammond Jr's solo- were disappointing. Still, much potential for the future.
System of a Down -other than a song or two, they never kept my attention. The potential for something better is there, hope they someday meet it.
The White Stripes -ah, my current favorite band. Jack is an excellent songwriter and the duo puts on a fantastic stage show. Nothing but high praise for Jack & Meg.

The Beatles- Not as good as the Rolling Stones.
Well, I'm not going to argue with THAT!
hahaha the beatles, are good and all but the Rolling Stones are just you know better, their songs are so much catch-ier. Not to mention Keith Richards is hilarious, just look at him, you can't without laughing.Oh and they should win cause the band is still "alive" .This is all in my *ahem* humble opinion

Well...I'm going to to have to disagree about the whole Beatles vs. Rolling Stones thing. While I absolutely adore the Stones I think the Beatles were a better band as far as songwriting goes...I actually don't think that the Stones songs are catchier at all. I believe that the Beatles wrote some of the catchiest songs I've ever heard...but, like I said, I still LOVE the Stones.

I don't know about catchy - "She Love You" is about as catchy as it gets - but the Stones are more appealing to me, a little grittier, a little more visceral. That, and in my opinion, they didn't REALLY hit their stride until the Beatles were essentially disintegrating.
Hey, this is music. All a matter of taste, right?

The Beatles- apart from being musical legends they made my brother a very happy man. He met his bride at a Beatles convention. What more can you ask from a band? OK so they weren't the greatest vocalists, they were/are ARTISTS, the creativity there is immense.
Queen - classic stuff, many greats. Nirvana - really love their sound.
I'm not familiar enough with the others listed to express an opinion.
As for the Beatles/Stones debate.. apples and oranges. King01 says it well. Who do I prefer? Depends on my mood.

I believe the Beatles were just as versatile as the Stones...think about the jump they went from "Meet the Beatles" and "Help" to "Sgt. Pepper" and "Abbey Road" or "The White Album" I think that is very versatile...not saying the Stones weren't.

The Beatles - THE BEST. Influenced all who have come after.
Elvis Costello - Greatest lyricist of our time (Yes, even better than Dylan.)
Korn - For the kids.
My Chemical Romance - If Morrissey were dead he'd be turning in his grave.
Nirvana - Nothing original, but they came along at the perfect time.
Queen - Solid rock band and fun too!! Queen II is epic.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Downhill after their first album.
Smashing Pumpkins - Downhill after their first album.
The Strokes - Some catchy tunes but they all sound the same.
System of a Down - Loud and heavy. I have to be in a certain mood and that mood comes not so often.
The White Stripes - 2 great songs for every 10 stinkers. That's a good thing. Like Jack better in The Raconteurs.
