Does anyone agree with me that the current fad of painfully skin tight trousers(often displayed by many new rock bands)is a fashion crime. They just make the wearer look like clothed stickinsects.

They're probably OK on rock bands, and very young, very thin people. It's when the trend is taken up by larger folk that it becomes unsightly.

I agree with supersal. I have a few (male) friends who can actually pull this off, and look....well, sexy. But they are both around 20 and over 6 feet tall, and very thin. Also they both have the confidence to make it work!

I do not really like skin tight pants on anyone, especially rock stars that are dressing like girls.

I have to agree with quizking92. I used to (we're in the middle of a divorce)have an ongoing argument with my husband over this. I am very tall and thin and he always said "Why don't you wear tight pants/jeans. You have the body for it." Well, I am younger than 51 and older than 49. I see women my age that are much shorter and a lot heavier wearing things that look as if they have been poured into them. I don't wear "baggy" pants, but I don't care to look like a hooker or like I still think I am 20. I do see younger men that look good in them, but they usually think they look good too.

There is always the "camel toe" thing to contend with.

No matter how good you look, no matter how thin you are, the camel toe is a no-no!

I don't like tight pants on anybody - irrespective of how good looking they are, or how good looking they think they are, tight pants don't look good.

If you've got the camel toe happening, or for men, if I can tell whether or not you've had a little snip, they are far too tight!

I'm not an advocate of baggy pants (younger people who wear their pants with the crutch down around the knees seems uncomfortable, and quite frankly, just plain stupid), and cubby does have a cute, tight little behind that looks nice, but you don't ned tight pants to show off your bits.

Also, I think I can remember somewhere that tight pants (on both guys and girls) can impair fertility if worn long term.

Yeah, it's a bit well...strange.

I don't like skin tight pants because I can't sit down without...well I just can't sit down, they don't let me.

Some people can get away with wearing them, especially the skinny leg variety, but I wouldn't.

For men who wish to become fathers at some point, skin tight pants are not so advisable. They tend to increase the temperature of parts of the anatomy that are supposed to be kept a little cool. I need not elaborate further.

What's wrong with a lot of wobble being poured into a too-small mould, if I might ask?

Nah, I have to 'fess to either being an old-fashioned prude, or just not getting it, but skin-tight pants are in the same category as stretchy leggings - they flatter NObody, don't cod yourself!

Being a larger male you could be forgiven for thinking my rant is directed at thinner people who have ,if they choose, the ability to squeeze into these skin hugging monstrosities. You would however be wrong ,even if I were 9 stone I wouldnt be seen in a pair.

While it adds nothing to the conversation, I feel compelled to add that I, personally, am at a place where I feel pretty stinkin' lucky to find pants that fit! At all. Tight ones? Baggy ones? Bring 'em on . As long as they stay up, I'm tickled beyond description...

My step-daughter likes the skinny jeans. But she's 15 years old, nicely shaped and looks decent in them. But I draw the line if, when she bends down, you can see the cleavage in the behind area (if you know what I mean). The same goes for the extra baggy pants worn by her brother. And as for the skinny jeans on the guys? Blech! No thanks. Whatever happpend to the nice "relaxed fit" jeans?

I agree with you about the cleavage Clarasue. One merciful thing about this year's fashion for smocks is that there's been less oversized muffin tops and buttock cleavage on view.

I don't have much opinion one way or another on this, but I am getting a kick out of the whole deja vu thing I'm feeling. This conversation could be taking place in, oh, 1978 or so.
This is one of those every-twenty-years or so cyclical fashion things. When I was in high school and for some years after, one would not be caught dead in anything that didn't look painted on. Baggies? Bellbottoms? Anathema!
Then the baggy stuff started to come back, now we're getting tight again.
I don't "do" fashion trends, but they are sure fun to watch.

I don't know about that, someone I know was wearing one of those tunic things over leggings, and she's a little on the larger side, she bent over with her rear end to the mirror, and it was not a pretty sight.

Boy, I'm glad plumbers don't wear tight pants. I've seen enough of their behinds to last me a lifetime. Around here we call them plumber's (well, maybe I shouldn't say it). But I have made the same reference to tight pants. They just don't look nice when bending over.

So we are all in agreement then, tight pants are fine as long as there is no camel toe or butt crack. LOL

Taesma reminded me of the mid eighties when "elastic denim" jeans were pretty fashionable. I owned a pair and wore them because they looked good but were also comfortable. Now-a-days I just wouldn`t wear them but at the time they were great.

All the young skater boys and emo kids are wearing the skin tight girls pants ans sagging them down to show their boxers here in Vegas. I don't know you so why should you think I want to look at your underwear. That goes for the thongs on display and butt cracks! When did wearing clothes that are actually flattering go out of style?
