Some of you old-timers might remember these books- and some of the younger ones, too. The Hardy Boys are actually two brothers, Frank and Joe. They solve criminal mysteries with VERY intriguing plots. Their father, Fenton Hardy, is a retired NYC police detective. The books are ghost-written using the pen name of Franklin Dixon.
The Hardy Boys come in many different books, their are The Hardy Boys, The Clue Brothers, The Hardy Boys Casefiles, and The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries.
Many different products have been made for memorbilia of the Hardy Boys such as lunch boxes, posters, cassette discs, and more. Disney also has a non-airing television show.

As a collector of these wonderful books, share your insights on them.

Yeah, I just love them. By the way, don't talk about old-timers. I'm just 11, and out of the 400 kids in my class, 30 love Hardy Boys. I like Nancy Drew too, and the Hardy Boys And Nancy Drew Supermysteries are just too cool. I've heard that Nancy Drew as well as Hardy Boys series were written by Edward Stratemeyer, and after his death, his daughter Ann Morris continued from wher he had left. I would like to recommend http://www.Nancydrew.com http://www.Hardyboys.com

Visit these 2 websites, you might like them!

I can remember reading a few of the books when I was younger and I also can remember most of the kids in my 5th grade class reading them too. I think the best one I read was Mystery of the Whale Tatoo(which was the first one I read because a friend recommended it to me) then I read a few more, after a while I finally read the first one and I didn't think it was that great. That might've been what made me stop reading them when I was younger. However I'll have to say they were probably one of the best mysteries series I read when I was younger out of Hardy Boys, Encyclopedia Brown, and The Boxcar Children

I read the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. (My daughter is into them now.) My favorite though was Trixie Belden! Any one else remember her?

Anyone old enough to remember the (Mercer Brothers Series.)

It was about two crime solving brothers who attended a military school.

I loved the Mystery of the Whale Tattoo! However, my favorite one was the original, 'The Tower Treasure'. I believe the first Hardy Boys book I read was 'The Haunted Fort'.

What's strange though is that I HATE the new series of books. I cannot stand the Hardy Boys Casefiles. I think the ghost-writers put too much suspence and they are a tad bit too modern for me.

I have many of the old Nancy Drew books. I used to collect them. I never much got into THe Hardy Boys but know that they are a collector's item.

I love reading the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books, but I prefer nancy drew more. I love the older and more original series more than the newer one's, but I like a little bit of the one's with nancy's love life problems. It just makes nancy more realistic to have problems like that which we can all identify with and relate to.
The hardy boys novels are really cool too. I like the nancy drew and hardy boys super slueth mysteries too though. I like frank better than joe, because he sounds more muture and fun. But joe's cool enough!

I LOVE the nancy drew series! I've read around 56 of the books and am still reading! I love that older one's which Mildret Wort Benson wrote, under the name carolyn keene, but I also enjoy the newer one's too. One of my favourites is The Mystery Of Lilac Inn and also The Moss Covered Mansion. I prefer the ones with alot of danger and suspense in them, but of course, they're all brilliant anyway! Cheers!

I read every book by Franklin W. Dixon. I of course loved every one. However, during the early 90's, they were reprinted under a new revision. It seems someone felt that the series was racist therefore they did some editing and made some other changes prior to release.

I actually saw the new releases and even read one. Apart from the cover being glossy, I didn't notice any difference. Although, I can't say I recall every word of the original verbatim. It's just the thought that they felt that way and had the nerve to change it. I hate it when something good gets changed. I am not black, I am a pale skinned native American but I was raised in the ghetto where prejudice owned us all. I remember reading the books and nothing ever struck me as being even remotely racist.

Anyway, a fine deal of reading which I would encourage any young man to read. Kudos to Mr Dixon.

Of course, I loved the Hardy Boys series (At our school, It would have quite unwise for any guy to admit that he liked Nancy Drew)

Anyways I would be so mad about it that I would take the book along while playing soccer. Will prefer being a back(though I was a forward). Kick the ball away and get back to the book.

I rememver the hype we used to generate for 'Brother Vs. Brother' (casefile #11, if I am not wrong)
