Taken from this webpage http://www.cbs.com/primetime/kid_nation/shows/ep7/Sophia is upset that Divad is stealing food from the town and making a profit by selling it, while Jared doesn't think it's fair that Divad has a monopoly on snacks in Bonanza. As a result Jared decides to open up his own snack bar. But when Kelsey tries to stop Jared from competing, Jared loses his temper and flips over Divad's stand. I remember him talking about Divad having a monopoly and that he was gonna be the competition. Then arguing with the other girl before he lost his temper, as well as when Divad went to him and made peace.

I suppose it's possible that they write pages of scenarios, and bring them out at the 'perfect' time...That's how I like to think. I was very impressed with the "Amazing Grace" rendition by Loren! Has Sofia noticed the "Paris and Nicole' thing? Seems like she'd speak up. Not sure about Greg's cut or sore, but remember the awful cold sores Loren had? I wonder if they're getting daily vitamins, and such? Because the food we've seen isn't going to get it! Couples, I thought so, just for a split second or two, but a lot of these kids ARE teens. Or "Hormones with feet!"

Not certain, of course, but I suspect that journal was written during the conception of the show - probably before the kids were even selected. Given the placement of the town and the predictable sociology of the 'citizens', the odds of certain things happening probably gave somebody all sorts of scenarios/perils to predict and write down, I'd like to note, too, that whoever wrote up that old diary has some mighty fine penmanship/calligraphy skills, didn't they ? I'd never thought about the "couples" angle - I seem to only catch the show now while having distractions happening lately ~ so I never noticed anything like that in place. Yet. It's absolutely possible (maybe inevitable?) that "romances" will develop, though, be it for thematic watchability (as per some entry in said journal) or just because the boyfriend/girlfriend bit would fit into a "kids playing adults" ideal. I can't imagine who would end up with who, however. It'd actually be most interesting/fun to watch something like that play out. One thing I think (maybe hopefully more than realistically) WILL happen is that, after the show, these kids have made some unlikely-but-strong friendships with people they wouldn't have otherwise that could last a good long time. Maybe for a lifetime? And, yes!, Lauren's performance of "Amazing Grace" was awesome! Wow - so powerful and evidently effortless for her to do, too. That girl is one impressive little human, it seems to me. She seems so unimpressed with herself. And, all the while, she quietly goes around doing such leadership-ish, valuable and outstanding things. I like her attitude about next to everything very much (just a personal opinion, though). And I'd like to give all those council members extra brownie points for having the gumption (if that's the right word) in being willing to handle all of their team members' spitty, gross and half-chewed gum . Blech, twice, to that....

Rather interesting show last night.
Next week is set up to be a big episode, if the four new contenders for Council leader are elected I expect to see a lot of chaos going on, as well as what the previewed showed regarding the events leading up to the election.
Saw alot of the bad sides of kids yesterday.
Greg is clearly bitter at the moment, and at that age I didn't want to hang around with kids that much younger then me either.
Sophia is also losing her cool more often, possibly also due to her older age.
Emily's issues with the Red team were never shown before hand, I only remember her trying to save the chickens way back.
Anjay is too layed back to deal with being a leader, it would do him better to not have as much pressure on him, let him just be himself.
Laurel not being a "Team" player was curious and seems to be deep rooted in terms of just looking out for Green team.
Zach since he has become council leader seems to have started to slack off some and he is not able to deal with the kids who are crying, thus his mocking during the show.
Guylan seems to have his heart in the right place but is in over his head, but job well done by him for the team and himself.
Mike seems to be making some decent changes since he has been off the council, his anger is under control.
Jared, no offense to those who like him, seems to come off as self centered, he wants to be in the spotlight but cries unfair when someone else is, he comes off as the town dissident.
In terms of the competition was suprised to see Blue not make the qouta, and even more shocked when even though Green took so long and they have older stronger kids on thier team came in with such a low count. As well as with all the talk of carrying the load for the group Red still came in under the 500 pound mark and only 5 pounds more then blue who had gone through the course and moved the hay obstacle much faster.
Blaine and Hunter came off as very good people last night and deserved the credit they got.
I am getting curious how in recent weeks the runner up for the gold star gets lost in the crowd after and never in consideration again. If they are consistently contributing you would think their names would be mentioned each week until they won.

Yes, that runner up thing worries me, because I'd like to see Hunter get the Gold Star. I honestly didn't understand the whole idea of swapping members! I get it if it's a benefit, but it wasn't in every case. Lauren chose not to trade any of her team...I didn't know that was an option. I'll bet none of the others thought about it like that! Good for her for standing up! She will have some competition for Council this time, though! I was afraid for Anjay after he traded Blaine. Greg is tired of the whole thing, now. You can tell. Jared was a pain this week, I agree. He's getting less and less cute.

Perhaps this thread should change from 'people who weren't going to watch it but now are avid followers!' LOL My kids enjoy it. Lauren felt totally left out of the loop, then got the star, Greg tried to school everyone in 'respect' and got taken to task for that!. New council voted in, should be interesting.

Of course, the Arcade wasn't such a good idea. Without any rules, disaster was a sure thing. I was so happy to see Hunter get the Gold Star! It will mean so much to his family. I just hope part of the money goes for some higher education. Taylor, Taylor Taylor...She really wanted to play in the Arcade! How long had it been since ANY dishes were done? I think a town Sheriff is an excellent idea! Naturally, things could get out of hand, but, I think Sophia is the one for the job!

I'm beginning to feel pretty sorry for Taylor--not much chance of her learning much of a lesson, since at that age it's pretty obvious to me that she learned most, if not all, of that behavior at home. I would imagine it's encouraged, or at the very least tolerated. If she were a few years older, I'd say maybe she picked it up from peers and is rebelling or something--but at 10? Nah, it's too well ingrained. I keep envisioning her family on Wife Swap or Trading Spouses, and having one of those "I am a queen and my daughter's the princess" kind of moms who has cowed her husband into bringing her breakfast in bed every day (at the crack of noon ). I rather enjoyed Jared (or should I say 'Danceman" ) sneaking into the arcade. He's quite the character.

I'm sure you're right, Taesma. Taylor is almost surely "The Princess" at home! I feel a little sorry for her, too. NEVER thought I'd say that!

I think Sophia had the same thought about the Monument. She is a very smart girl, and I'm sure she decided at the last second that they'd have it, no matter! She is doing a fantastic job as Sheriff, but I knew she would! I was surprised at Zach's meltdown. They ARE children...Maybe he didn't get enough sleep. I've always liked Greg, but he worried me a few times. Alex deserved the star, but his family doesn't appear to need it. That's ok, but I think it riled Zach a little. It's hard to believe their Bonanza day's are almost done! The kids have done well, and I'll look forward to the last episodes!

I thought the ending was great! It's probably a good thing the parents didn't see what went 'into' the pasta and sauce! Sophia made out like a bandit. Total in stars for her: $70,000 I was a little surprised that Lauren didn't get another star...She DID get ONE, right? Lots of tears. Proud parents. Perfect.
