For someone who has watched the show from when it first came on, Cragen was the Homicide Lieutenant, Greevey the senior detective and Logan the junior detective. I always liked his character, for the longest time you could link all the main characters to him and Briscoe, now you need to add Green, with Briscoe partnering with both of them at start and end of his Law and Order run. Still with all the main characters to have come and gone in the show, linking all of them to just three isn't bad.

I don't think Noth has ever gotten any real love from the fans. He always comes in at the wrong time with a bad attitude. I like Eames from CI and Olivia and Munch from SVU.

Munch is a good character, though I like the "Homicide : Life on the Street" Munch to the SVU one. Same guy, just different people around him on the two shows.

Munch is so cool. I loved it when he was on Homicide and NBC did a crossover episode with L&O and we learn that Munch and Briscoe had a scandalous commonality, I wasn't even shocked!

I have never seen Munch on the orginal series but I would love to. It is funny how on SVU they paired him with Finn (Ice-T). That combo is just so opposite but they work well together.

Hi all, I'm seeing this thread for the first time: I like all the L&O series.

Somebody said earlier "Goren is admittedly obsessive compulsive"

I can just see Goren being transferred to California and taking over as Columbo's nephew... that would be a blast

I believe it was done in order to give Vincent D'Onofrio a break from filming, though I'd have to do some research to confirm this.

I have heard this also. But, ironically, now that the series moved to USA, D'Onofrio seems to be on it *more* rather than less. An "extended version" is listed for this coming Thursday, with Goren being held in a mental institution. I just saw the preview a little bit ago and it looked like he will have a really interesting part ot play.

Ok what is up with Criminal Intent? (US viewers) The season started with the announcement that CI was moving to the USA network. Now, NBC is advertising that it will be showing "all new" episodes on Wednesday nights before the original L&O. The "all new" episode for this Wednesday is the first one of the season that was already shown on USA in September. Do they want us to watch this show or what?

I guess they are new to non cable T.V.

If there wasn't a writer's strike I don't think NBC would have bought the episodes to air.

"The season started with the announcement that CI was moving to the USA network."

cinnam0n, I am wondering if that doesn't mean they will be on USA with "re-runs", like all the other L&O shows have been for some time, but will still keep their primetime "first-run" slot on NBC. I have recently seen a lot more C.I. and not just L&O and S.V.U. on the USA network. Does this post make any sense?! All these acronyms get so confusing when thrown together. Sandy

I don't know. C.I. reruns have been on USA for years, and since the new season began in September the episodes were definitely new ones.
I think Barracuda has something there. I hadn't thought about the writer's strike, but I'm sure it's the reason NBC bought those shows. I think the major networks are running out of things to air, and they're hoping they'll get some viewers who missed the fact that C.I. moved to USA and haven't seen the episodes.

Did anyone see the new episodes of SVU? Mariska is working really hard for the emmy nomination, and she's earned it. Her preformance in Undercover was amazing. And did they replay the new episodes of CI that were on USA on NBC when it came back to NBC?

I have enjoyed SVU more than earlier seasons, everything is better. And yes the "new" Criminal Intent episodes have all been played numerous times on NBC; I hope to see some real new ones soon, I miss Bobby!

From what I understand about Goren's character, his Mom (portrayed by Rita Moreno) has schizophrenia. This is why his character is so adept at figuring out other people. A child brought up in this environment would, as an adult, be quiet skilled at survival. Also, his character deals with the question of if he will ever develop his Mom's mental health issues.

Have you seen Vincent in The Cell? If you think he is an enigma in Law and Order, this movie shows his acting skills quite well.

Bobby Goren's mental health has been explored this season, but I won't ruin it for you if you haven't already seen it.

I haven't seen him in The Cell, I tend to avoid seeing Jennifer Lopez films but I will make an effort to see it for him. I loved him in Happy Accidents, it was a great "Thinking" film.

NBC is the parent company of USA Network, but it didn't buy the L&O:CI shows to air on NBC. USA Network "loaned" the episodes to NBC to use as filler during the writer's strike in an effort to lure viewers back to USA even after the writer's strike ended. NBC began airing two of USA's best shows to bolster the plan but has already dropped Monk and Psych from its schedule due to poor ratings. Monk and Psych are both very popular shows on USA but to air them on NBC didn't pay off, maybe viewers are watching new programming now that the strike's over and there are fresh shows being aired on mostly all the networks. Sad thing is the season has ended for most of those shows so USA will likely still benefit as Monk and Psych will be returning this summer with new shows. Now if only we could say the same for LOCI.

I was on USA yesterday watching another repeat of "Untethered" and all I saw were ads for the new series "In Plain Sight" beginning Sunday. I haven't seen anything for new episodes at all and if I hadn't read it here I might have missed it! Thanks for posting it, I can't wait!

Had to dig deep to find this old thread, but it's time once again to see Goren & Eames back in action - tonight marks the return of L&O:CI on USA, 9:00EST. Set your DVRs~

Watched it last night! I'm so glad to have new ones at last! I can't figure out if I'm going to like Jeff Goldblum or not - time will tell...

I watched too, though I expected more from a season opener - especially given the way last season ended. I have to wonder why there was no mention of what happened that....

As for Jeff Goldblum, I remember he was in a very shortlived NBC show called "Raines" a few years back and he was quite engaging, so I have high hopes for him on LOCI. I also give him points for being a home-town boy, just like you and me, CinnamOn!

"Peaches...." (he has a very funny story about this quote, if you can find it)
